RIP Vin Scully

We are losing the generation of the greatest announcers. People who understand you don't need to scream or talk nonstop about the game being played.

Baseball is a game that moves at the pace of summer. Hearing great little stories or funny anecdotes is what the game is about.

I miss the Scooter talking about his lasagna from last night. So many of these announcers come off as smug and not as real.

It was already said but his ability to read a moment and just let it unfold naturally was beautiful. And, of course, “if a picture is worth a thousand words, then you just saw a million,” still my favorite announcer’s quote ever. RIP
