RIP Mayor Dinkins

Granted he inherited a city that was at its lowest in just about every category.
But he was the Jimmy Carter of mayors - a good man who was just in over his head.

I took this picture of Mayor Dinkins last winter before the pandemic. I was picking up my daughter at her friends apartment. He was leaving church. Glad I took it. Just realized it needs to be rotated.

I lived on east 68th street for a number of years in the 90's, and Mayor Dinkins lived in the building right across the street. To the best of my knowledge, he continued to reside there till his passing. Also Morley Safer lived in a brownstone a few doors down from me. Very nice guy.
