RIP Bill Buckner

Bill Buckner passed away today at the age of 69 from a form of dementia. He was a really good player who, unfortunately for him, was primarily remembered for one play which helped give my beloved Mets a World Series Championship.

Bill was very good natured about that play. He and Mookie Wilson made a lot of money working together at dozens of baseball card shows signing pictures of "the play".

RIP, Bill, and thanks for the memories. You were a class act.

Also, it should be mentioned, that the Red Sox had already blown a 2 run lead before the Buckner play happened. If he makes it, the game simply moves on to the 11th inning. So, nothing is guaranteed, even if he gets the out.
