Dean D'Angelo was a great advocate for pharmacists, and after retiring from St. John's became editor of US Pharmacist magazine. I would see her every year at hospital pharmacy national meetings (ASHP), and would spend time with her, sometimes going to mass on a holiday. I went through a rough personal time smack in the middle of pharmacy school, and she called me in, and told me that if I needed anything, to see her, and she would personally help me. She also told me don't worry about failing, because she wouldn't let it happen. It was that confidence that got me through school during a very rough time. I had gotten to know her son Ernie while we were both students, and our friendship was separate and distinct from knowing his mom. Upon hearing this news, I was thinking I would reach out to Ernie, only to discover his had passed away in 2006.

Dean D'Angelo was a great asset to St. John's University, and she will be missed. She did however, leave a strong mark on the College of Pharmacy that should not be forgotten.

Very sad to hear this. She was a very classy lady and a great advocate for everything St. John's.

Beast, sorry to hear about this, but thanks for sharing. I'm sure the news about Ernie was tough to hear, as well.
