No you dirty minded perverts.....not that kind of rim job!
This game was lost at the rim. Forget the poor outside shooting by Champ and the ineptitude of Mathis in the offense, St. John's blew so many bunnies within 5 feet of the basket that there should be a Department of Justice investigation.
Frankly, I never thought we would beat a talented and well coached team like Nova without Posh. I said we would be toast if Wusu had to handle the point and it was served with jam and butter. The X factor for any hope for a win was Champagnie playing like a Champ. Nova took care of him by committing assault in the first degree on him and rendering him a non factor. Even before the hard foul he looked like he was avoiding being part of the offense by having his back to the ball handler on offense.
Enter the real X factor, Aaron Wheeler, a player I have been touting as a better NBA prospect than Champ and tonight he showed why. He can handle the ball. He has a great lift off his feet when shooting and he can drive to the basket. He personally willed St. John's back from the dead. All while Champ sat and watched. That CMA didn't reinsert him while we cut Nova's lead to single digits tells you he was really hurting after being assaulted and that coach had more confidence in Wheeler being the man in the closing minutes.
I'm proud of the team never quitting and actually putting a scare in Nova. With Posh and a healthy Champ we win. The Big East tournament will be very interesinteresting.
