Rico Gathers' Minor Theft Arrest

Gathers allegedly placed two pillows, a tote bag, a water dispenser and a trash can in a cart and left the store without stopping to pay for the items, according to police.

Some of these kids are as dumb as my last $hit :woohoo:

For some reason I thought this was about Rico Hines before clicking the link and glancing at the posts.

Gathers will be making good money somewhere in a first world country soon enough, so not sure why he did something so stupid.

He's had a difficult life.

Yes, it was difficult having his brother get paid in exchange for Rico backing out of his commitment. I pity his hardship.

Maybe he got confused when the sign said "My Pillow."

.....who the hell steals pillows ?

Answer: kids with no money from poor families who don't have a pillow are the ones that steal pillows.

This news item leads to the discussion of whether D1 basketball players should be paid a modest stipend to cover incidental out of pocket expenses.

Scavenger hunt?

Not condoning it but, its not crab legs, sneakers or a stereo. The Wife and child needs could have something to do with it.

He's clearly an amateur -- the key is to bring your child in when you know he/she will throw a tantrum, and then you make it seem like you are so frazzled that you zipped out of the store without paying.

Short of a tantrum, don't steal everything at once -- pay for some stuff, but put the pillow under the cart and "forget" to bring it out for scanning.

Sounds like you've plotted this before.

Nope. But if I had I wouldn't be stupid enough to get caught. I'd also be smart enough to "borrow" money from my unethical coach instead of stealing a pillow.

I wonder if Baylor has something like that.

Drew would give the pillow . . . and then send 10 text messages a day for a year reminding every recruit and their parents that Bill Self would never care enough about them to give a pillow.
