Reuben Prey a Great, Smart Addition

- strong side post help
- recognizes when the opportunity is there to switch and does it fluidly
- gets all the way over to strong side block to cut off drive AND recovers
- gets to mid paint to cut off roll man option on P&R AND recovers
- puts a body on the crasher so we can board and finish off the possession.

He was never the one guarding the ball and had such an impact here and many other times. Knowing these nuances of help defense AND being able to legitimately guard smaller players on the perimeter AND deterring shots at the rim already is incredible. We saw a drive and finish we havnt seen yet yesterday and an awesome pass inside. The sky is truly the limit.

One of the first defensive lessons in basketball is "See your man, see the ball."

Notice how Reuben slides from post to corner and back with a textbook lateral slide, the defensive posture drill teams do over and over but one which most kids abandon during play because it's tedious.

I'm prepared for him to go back to Spain next season since he is on loan for just one year. Not sure how NBA notice would give him reason to stay, or even if that happens, may be beyond his decision.

For now just enjoying the heck out of one of the most fundamentally sound freshmen we've ever had. His play here can only result in more interest from abroad.
