Sorry for putting the spotlight on you but I believe you have been the most vocal regarding the current staff/recruiting in a positive light. What's your take on what's going on? Is it the young talent? Do you see the coaching advances you had hoped for?

I respect Redmannorth as a moderator and also think he is an excellent poster. But......an entirely new thread to ask one man's opinion?

I certainly don't merit a thread requesting my opinion.
I have repeatedly said that recruiting has been very good and that I would be very pleased with 16 wins this season.
Unfortunately living in Montreal I rarely get to see games, so I am far from the right person to ask what has gone on. To answer your question, we are still the second most inexperienced team in division 1. I am willing to give the staff a chance and not throw in the towel today but obviously I am very disappointed in tonight's loss. I thought we would have won in a huge blowout. After a game like tonight it is understandable if one were to start to equate Coach Mullin with former Coach Mahoney. Two very good recruiters who could not win. Having said that I will refrain from negativity and all I can do as a moderator is ask others to post in a civil fashion.

Look, we are mostly Homers here and all want Mullin and staff to succeed. Aubie gave a very civil and intelligent answer but the topic was "Redmen"North so perhaps we should get the opinions of all fans north of the Bronx. Please report redmen from Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse, Rochester and Utica. ;)

Aubie is a standup guy, a really good guy. Often when we disagree publicly, sometimes tersely, we take it private to get a better understanding of the lack of civility and difference of opinion. Even when we disagree i support his opinions 100% because they come from a very good place - a great fan and person supportive of this school and program

You do realize there is an entire thread for Paultz's avatar right? And I believe one was dedicated last year to Lavin's tie.. or lack there of. :) By all means, if the mods want to take it down for free. Sometimes these threads are almost impossible to ask one man's opinion.

Why not just PM him?

I have had the pleasure of speaking with Aubie
He is a great guy, an ardent supporter of SJU and one of the most level headed posters

This season has not really played out like I thought it would in light of all the hype and the new recruits. I do think however, we must keep in minds these players are young, and never played together.
I think there has been an undertone on this board since Lavin was let go, that people had picky observations about Mullin, some didn't like how he sat on the scorer's table. Some took issue with him not being hands on enough (not running timeouts) some have had comments about the clothes he wears.
The kids are young, and totally lack time playing with each other. The coaching staff is new, and are really thin on experience put the two of those items together and you have a volatile environment at best.
I would love to have us farther than we are, but we aren't. I am willing to give the new coaching staff and young players time to mature together. Mullin is building a program, and it will take time to get to where we all want to be. I am willing to let the process play out..This is my observation and as an alum living in Syracuse, I am giving my opinion. 72 asked for comments north of the Bronx.

Much, much too insightful for this board; I see a very recurring reality; guys hype beyond belief players they have never seen play and then criticize like crazy when reality sets in. Maybe Mullin won't build a program, that certainly remains to be seen, but talk about overreaction.......................

In my 45 +/- years of following the Johnnies I have not gotten into following high school recruiting. The reason is simple, so often one hears all of these great things and the kid is only so-so at best. Or one hears nothing and the kid turns out dynamite. Go figure.

I heard the kids getting on the court for us this year were fabulous, but I've heard things like that before. Let's see how it is playing out by February 1 and then I'll decide. That's how I've always done it don't buy the hype, wait and see and root hard for our Johnnies.

We can all list a thousand fantastic college players who were duds in the NBA, it happens at every level.
