It's getting to that time of year again.  I've set up the annual Bracket Challenge.  Good luck gents.

Group Name:  Redmen.com 1534990
Password:  ToCMAornot

Here's a link.  If it doesn't work you can search on the Tournament Challenge Site.  Redmen.com ESPN Bracket Challenge

Just bumping this up as a reminder.  Usually someone pins it for the week.  Can a mod do so.

Also if you can name your bracket the same as your screen name here it makes it a little more fun.

Did you lock this already? Tried to get in and not allowed.

It seems like I created an entry, but my picks keep getting cleared with an error message on my end. . .

*Managed to get in with a new name (I think). Just delete my blank one please. Thanks.

As we enter the second weekend of the Dance here's an update on where we stand.  Enjoy the games everyone.
  • 19854ever is our leader with the most points as well as the highest potential ceiling of our group.
  • He is in the 99.4th percentile at this point. Not too shabby at all.
  • His lead is 30 points over 2nd place teams SJUNC and KKamper.  That's the equivalent of 1 additional pick correct each round.
  • Only 3 teams have a potential max point total of 1,600 or more, 19854ever, SJUNC and some guy named Austour.  ;)
  • Those same 3 teams are the only ones with their entire Final 4 still alive, and they each picked a different champ.
  • The most impressive first round was put together by Basketball Jones with 25 correct picks.  The worst by Gene(assume of the Mean variety) SigEp, and someone named Race to 690, who either doesn't post, or doesn't want us to know who he is for obvious reasons, with just 18 correct picks.
  • The most impressive selection of Sweet 16 teams was by 19854ever with 12 of the Sweet 16. No one else got more than 10 which lead to the big lead.  The worst Sweet 16 selection was by TIS (if you don't know you haven't been around long enough to deserve to, even though he hasn't posted since summer of 2018) at just 5.  This also puts TIS at the bottom of the ladder for now.
  • The lowest potential score,  however, goes to Jackfro who despite having 10 of the Sweet 16 has already lost his entire Final including his champ, 3 of his Final 4 and 5 of his Elite 8.  In fact there is no game on Friday where there is a team he picked to get there, much less a team he thought would win tomorrow.  Ouch.
  • Of the 32 completed entries all but 2 still have their projected champion alive, the aforementioned Jackfro (Kentucky), and the highly generic St. John's Redmen (Auburn), who could be one of many Redmen posters.  GO SEC!
  • We picked 8 different teams to be champion. Unsurprisingly Gonzaga was overwhelmingly the mostpopular choice at 18 (56.25%), followed by Purdue (4), Kansas (3), and Nova and Duke (2 each).
  • The only team still alive that was picked as champion by just 1 person is Arizona as selected by romiSJU even though he hasn't posted since March 6, 2021.
Hope that's enough information for you!  Have a great Sweet 16 and Elite 8!

A quick update today to point out that 19854ever is now in the 99.9% percentile picking all four winners last night.  Kudos dude.  Most of the brackets busted last night.

My bad.  He didn't have Arkansas.  But 3 out of 4 is pretty good.  There were 8 guys in our pool, including myself, who did not pick a winner in a single game last night.  And the previously pitiful performance by Jackfro got worse.  He didn't get a single game right last night and his tournament is over already.  LOL    ESPNFAN63765847's tournament is over as well.  Show your face ESPNFAN63765847!

Well, this was the easiest Final Weekend Summary I've ever done.  19854Ever presently holds a huge lead.  In fact he is now in 405th place overall out of something around 17 million completed brackets on ESPN.  That's freaking unbelievable.  That's what happens when you correctly pick the Final Four and 6 of the Elite 8.

He also holds a 350 point lead over second place team, Race to 690, who at this point only has 640 to the leader's 990.  Thanks to Rlogazino for identifying himself and pretty strong effort despite the dismal first round, now he can explain what Race to 690 means.  But as he rightly stated he has no chance to win.  That 350 points is more than any team can earn in the semifinals by the way.

There is only 1 scenario where 19854Ever could lose our contest, and that is with a Duke vs. Kansas final.  Unfortunately I think that's what is going to happen but I'm hoping, for 19854Ever's sake, for Nova to Beat UNC.  If that were to happen I imagine 19854Ever would end up with a final position in the national standings that he could tell his grandchildren about someday.

Anyway, as I said the only way he doesn't win is if Kansas faces Duke if that happens here are the alternative scenarios:
Duke beats Kansas:  Jac34 wins, I assume that is Jacstorm
Kansas beats Duke:  Tom in Simsbury, I mean Salem wins, despite his awful first week.

Good luck and enjoy the Final Four this weekend!

The name reference is to Titus and Tate (who called the St. John's vs St. Francis game), and on their podcast they always say the first team to 69 points wins. That doesn't exactly translate well to March Madness points so I chose 690, which 19854Ever got to first and most likely will win so my point stands.

Got it.  However I tried to wipe the memory of those guys out of my mind and now you've plopped 'em back in.  Thanks a lot.  ;)

Good thing I'm rooting for Villanova and UNC. Would love to see someone from here land in top 100(?)

That would be insane.
