Recruiting- Nick Saban

Something tells me their is more "selecting" than "recruiting" being done at Alabama. That's just me. He can afford to stick to phone calls and face to face.

The line is that at Alabama ,football players, along with players at some basketball schools, take a cut in pay when they turn pro.

I despise pro sports. My 2 passions are SJU basketball and Bama football. SJU because I'm an alum, and Bama because my daughter attended college there for 2 years. Haters can say what they want about Saban and Bama football, the fact is that he has created and maintained a winning culture there like few head coaches have done anywhere at any time in the history of any sport. And by and large he has done so without controversy. He runs a tight ship and his kids almost always come across as articulate, humble and all around good kids. There are exceptions, but they are few. Again, haters are gonna say what they want much as they do about K(who I hate) and other winners. Comes with the territory.

Wow that’s a contrast in teams you root for especially the last ten or so seasons. I agree with much of what you said about the Alabama program but I generally go for the underdog of which Clemson certainly isn’t so a good game is what a I am hoping for.

Bama wasn’t my first choice of colleges for my daughter, but once she decided she was going there I quickly jumped on the bandwagon. I figured the college sports Gods owed me one for all the years of suffering as a Redmen fan. She has since transferred to George Washington but I’ll be damned if I’m gonna start following their football team(not even sure they have one). As for the Saban, I’m sure he runs just as “clean” a program as all the rest of the high level D1 college sports coaches do.

You'd be foolish to think college football is not as crooked as college basketball https://www.cbssports.com...ball-is-not-as-crooked-as-college-basketball/ via @CBSSports

Article talks about Saban cheating.

If everybody cheats it is a level playing field. Article mention of Bama was from the Mike Dubose era in the late 90's. Nice try though.

Hmmmmm. Who was the coach at Alabama about a decade ago when they began their meteoric rise?

Yeah had nothing to do with arrival of Saban who was a D coordinator under Bill Belicek, turned around Toledo, Mich St., andLSU where he won a National Championship before taking an NFL head coaching job.

Your Wrong. After bombing at the Dolphins he took the Alabama job and his arrival coincided with the 7 on 7 sneaker money.
Hey, root for Bama, keep your man crush on Saban, just don't be Naive.

I compare Alabama football to Duke basketball (or insert any other.) The fans of each team believe their coach is clean and don’t know what’s going on.

It’s easy not to use technology when you have players delivered to you most of the time.
