Recent Lou Carnesecca Interview

Still to this day when I tell people I went to SJU, they always ask about Lou. I haven't lived in the New York area for over 40 years, so it is out of towners who still remember and smile when they recount him.

He is the best ambassador SJU has every had, we are luck to still have him. Still has juice!

I posted this years ago, but its worth repeating now.

About 6 or 7 years ago, I had the incredible opportunity to meet Lou in his office. Just me, him and my contact at SJU who arranged for me to meet Lou. To this day, I still consider this one of the highlights of my entire life! We chatted as if he knew me for years. Being both Italian, we were comparing our family backgrounds from Italy, how much we like to eat, etc etc. He even signed two smaller basketballs I had purchased for my sons. To this day, as married men, they both have their signed basketballs prominently displayed in their homes.

He truly is an amazing man and an incredible ambassador for our university. I wish him all the best and hope he stays around forever!

even at 90 he still has a sharp mind. people love him because he is old school and doesn't talk in cliches. accurate assessment of the current team.
