Rebound Differential

This post is not to criticize the team or anything. We knew going in rebounding was going to be an issue so why not a little over under contest.

There are 351 Division 1 teams. last year MSU had the highest rebound different at +10.4 Fordham had the lowest at 10.0. Minnesota was 199 at even.

What's the over under on where St John's will finish in rebounding differential this year (we were 335 last year)? I'm setting the bar at O/U 340.

Not crying over spilled milk, but Happy’s guy is type of blue collar interior guy who could have really helped. The Zach Brown gamble really hurt us in more ways than one. Last night in St Louis game;

Hasahn French 12RB, 3BLK, 4AST

Not just french. There were plenty of opportunities to get us one more big guy. Now we are hamstrung by it, on what could be a great season but we have limitations.

Bright side is we have essentially played the first two games w/o our center. We are short one big for sure (no pun intended) but we played the first two games short two bigs. If Keita can get healthy and stay on the floor for 20-25 mpg, we can compete on the boards and get some decent low post defense. Maybe having him back and clogging up the middle will help our guards stay with their guys on the perimeter and stop giving up all the open looks. Also we really should be a good FT shooting team as Ponds, Heron, Clark & Figgy should all be close to 80% and it seems like Simon has worked on his stroke in the off season so hoping he's above 70%. As much as watching last night's game was a roller coaster ride with many dizzying dips, it's going to be hard to wait a week for the next game!

Worth noting we did take 15 more shots than Bowling Green.

Good point Mase. The one area of rebounding that remains a concern is getting second chances on offensive end. In tight games that stat is huge difference maker.

At risk of arousing Marillac, I really love the way LJ attacks the offensive glass. But your absolutely right, as game slows down towards end the rebounding battle becomes crucial.

That's because BG had way more turnovers than we did. I'll give Mullin that, his teams are low in TOs.
