Glancing at the Daily News as I fill up my tank, see the article that Alkins might have to leave NYC school his senior year for a prep school. It seems he played a few varsity games as an eighth grader while in Florida.
I'll leave the analysis and commentary to other reliable posters here BUT what struck me was this line:
Alkins is considered one of the best players in the Class of 2016 and he's been offered scholarships from schools like St Johns, Kentucky, Kansas, and Indiana as well as other powerhouse programs. No one questions we are are now in the powerhouse category or at least will be there, without doubt.
Very positive confirmation that Chris Mullin and his superb staff are the right men at the right place at the right school!!!
HFD to all.

Respectfully, we are not close to a powerhouse program and nobody considers us to be in the same league as Kansas and Kentucky. I think you are quoting the article out of context.

At this point, many of us would be thrilled if we were consistently in the same league as Xavier, Butler or Wichita st. But hey, hope springs eternal!

Just read the article. I have been hearing that CTK is hoping that Rawle is at least a partial qualifier next season and they can have him for the second half of the season. Unfortunately, as the article says, he's caught between a rock and a hard place with the CHSAA not meeting until Sept. I guess he can wait till Sept but have a prep school lined up so that if they CHSAA rules against him he can immediately transfer. We shall see

Hi BH!
Our views are not so divergent.
Of course as of today the powerful Summer Solstice we have not won a game and are not a powerhouse YET.
But the plan, concept and image is for SJU to take its place in the PH atmosphere. We will get there.
And surely no one can doubt the best HS players are now considering SJU as a landing place. Parents and HS coaches are regaining the respect we once had under Louie.

If you're a Dad, all the best!
