Rasheem Dunn Piece

Wonderful young man. Love the photo with his hand on his heart. He and O'Connell the only 2 kids on last year's team who put their hand on their heart during the National Anthem.

Memory is getting hazy, but I remember having to stand for the Pledge and put our hands on our hearts at Chaminade. I assume they still do. Just asked my daughter about it and neither of them do it out here in Oakland and Alameda.

I'll ask my nephew, he's one year+ removed from Chaminade. He's a soph at SJU.

My nephew doesn't recall if it was actually required, but he said "we all did it, out of respect".

Did your nephew play basketball there? Funny because all the kids still do it. I coach in that League

Hockey and baseball. He's a big kid, but not a basketball type big. More linebacker type. About 6,1" 250. Meanwhile my other brother's son goes 6'5", played Lacrosse at Herricks and is now playing at Maritime. Never took to basketball. My son was blessed with athleticism but not height. Real mixed genetic bag in my family.

NJ public schools are required to begin with the pledge. Students can choose not to do it, but cannot be disruptive while the class is reciting it. If they are, they can be disciplined. Students who do refuse to say the pledge can remain quietly seated. It's rare.

They have great programs there. Playing against them in bball is always tough. They are smart, play well together, and are well coached. Always have good talent and kids playing on their team who play the right way. They have great facilities as well. Great school, my brother graduated from there.

At the risk of pissing off some posters who attended other Catholic schools on Long Island, best Catholic school by far.

For any opponent who has a weakness with its ball handling guards Dunn and Posh on the floor together would be a major problem.

In addition, I think Dunn’s experience would have helped vs BYU. Kid is a good player and going to help us this season more than some think.
