There is nothing to see here. Mr. Krzyzweski, college basketball's modern day equivalent to Jesus, had to sit out a year due to exhaustion and needed back surgery from the weight of having to carry around all of his virtues. He was simply giving a poor, wretched soul the benefit of the doubt.

Just ask the former Duke lacrosse players how much Coach K shows restraint and gives out the benefit of the doubt. Right?

Based on the details in the story, it doesn't sound like that is the case. It is two young women alleging that he raped them. Innocent until proven guilty, ok. But this is not about a girl lying about her age.

You guys are missing an important point. Under the new law , ANY reports of sexual assault must be reported to law enforcement. IT IS THE LAW. Duke is not supposed to investigate for a year as universities have done in the past. Duke university will face heavy fines, not necessarily the basketball team.

Correct. Reports of sexual assault must be reported to law enforcement. Not rumors or suspicions. And according to reports in the media, the accuser here did not file any complaints with campus safety or anyone else. That is the official notice required by the statute.
Terrible situation, but it's not at all clear that Duke is culpable in the way you imply.

Considering the whole Duke lacrosse debacle, that holds doubly true in this case I would think.

How can a school be held liable for not investigating something that was never reported to any official. If there are student rumors that so-and-so had non consensual sex with so-and-so, the college cannot legally open an investigation based on that alone. It is a sad but very true fact that every day on every college campus (and elsewhere), woman suffer rape and it never gets reported to anyone.

This is a difficult case for everyone involved.
