Rasheed Jordan / NY Post

Dang I remember mjmaherjr breaking the news when Lavin was at the jail going unannounced cancelling dinner in NYC from the thing in AC :)

I hope this turns out well for him.

I still believe there are miles of difference between this kid, and the transgressions that nearly cost D'Angelo his college career, not only in what they did, but how they owned up to it.

D'Angelo right away took ownership of what he did. While we torched Lavin on here, some even suggesting Lavin suspended him to tank the season's chances, Harrison took 100% of the blame, and expressed appreciation to Lavin for calling him out. He worked hard, came back, and again gave Lavin full credit for the second chance. There has been no repeat of that behavior. He was truly apologetic for his outbursts that led to his suspension.

I don't think Rysheed is at that maturity level, and can only see things in terms of how they cost him. Sure he can admit his own decisions cost him a brighter future, but it is only reflection upon what it cost him. I was hoping for him to be able to express, "I put a bullet in someone. I could have ended a life for a few bucks going into my pocket. where would I be if Father Rock never left me, nor Coach Lavin, or my teammates abd family. I let them all down."

Maybe the kid he shot was just another gang banger, just another shoot or be shot story of the streets. I don't know. But I'm not sure Rysheed can even process that if that bullet went a few inches this way or that way, there would have been a funeral, and in that context, the basketball career of Rysheed Jordan would hardly compare to that outcome.
