Random thoughts after DePaul win

I am very happy the monkey is off these player's backs.  Aside from the usual 2 or 3 turnovers that certain players commit seemingly every game, we played well as a team.  The only disappointment was Ron M'ouvika who, thankfully, is a grad transfer.  The true freshmen, along with Durand Johnson, won the game.  That's a good sign considering Balamou, Jones and Amar were their usual inconsistent selves.  Amar was pulled after a boneheaded turnover but I think he deserved some of RM's minutes.  Nice to see Shamorie was at the game and posed with Jack Williams as Mike Maher posted a photo of them from Twitter. Nice to see Jack Williams accepted to SJU!  Would love to see him as a future team manager.  However, until he actually enrolls at SJU he may be teasing us just as Isaiah Briscoe did.  Speaking of young Jack, it seems his entire "Decisions" thread disappeared!  Perhaps he is signing with Delaware.
Regarding the weight issue with our freshmen I see no long term problem.  When I found out that Adonis Delarosa was hired as a summer intern with the team as a nutritionist I think we will see fast results by October.
Still disappointed that Fun, aka Foad, aka Ghost of Frank Zappa, has discontinued his BEB blog.  Never in a thousand years did I think "loyalty" to a redmen coach would actually put him out of business. Where is the journalistic  integrity?  I expected the Maven to have dinner with Tom Pecora before seeing BEB disappear faster than a Steve Lavin recruit.
Finally, my wish for the Big East tourney is to play and beat Georgetown.  They have, and always will be, nothing but a bunch of Hoyas!

It was very nice to see these guys finally pull out a win. They tried their best to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in those closing minutes, but by some miracle, nailed their free throws to seal the deal. I hope Mullin can work some kind of magic with the free throw shooting in the offseason. His legendary shot must be teachable in some form or fashion.

Durand Johnson was key. He plays like a little bit of a cowboy most of the time, but I can't blame him - it's his last year of college ball on a raw team that's not going anywhere.

Speaking of cowboys, as streaky as Balamou is, I like watching him play. He attacks, follows his shot, rebounds. He seems like the only guy that moves at full speed. Granted, 50% of the time, he's out of control at full speed, but I like that he doesn't settle for shots on offense.

I saw on the big board someone questioning why Amar was sitting in the second half. I missed some of the first half, so I didn't see the sins that relegated him to the bench. Overall, I like his play. He seems to have confidence, and when he's on, he provides a nice spark. It's clear the staff is still figuring out who jells with whom.

As for the Big East Tourney, I have to agree. I hate the Hoyas! Would love to send them packing!
