Mods I don't know if this belongs in Creighton PRE-GAME, but anyway, I just got an e mail from Redstormsports telling me about tonight's Creighton game.

First, they mention the t.v. broadcasters as Vince Welch and Nick Bahe, who the heck are those two?? Reaching to the bottom of the barrel over there are FS1. Do these guys even know who St. John's is?

Next, the e mail mentions that the game is not available locally on broadcast RADIO, and I will be driving and won't be able to listen to the game. (I don't get SiriusXM which does have the game, I'm cheap but I don't like Sirius).

Last, about St. John's games on local radio, we seem to have slipped around a lot since the days when we were on a solid station. Our games are sometimes on 970 The Answer, other times WMCA 570 with its bad signal, and other times we are pre-empted on either of those stations and I've heard Seton Hall or Syracuse games instead.

IMG marketing or someone has to do a better job with getting New York City's team on a permanent good signal big time NY station for all games home and away.

Bahe did the game last year. He played for Creighton. His analysis last year was pretty one-sided if you get my driftt

We are on 970. If Seton Hall has a game we get bumped to 570 as they get priority on 970. I believe if the Rangers and Knicks have a conflict then Seton Hall gets bumped to 570 and we get nothing.

Embarrassing, we should not play second fiddle to Seton Hall.

570 you can barely hear driving back to Long Island after games as well.

I wrote to Mike Cragg in November about the awful radio coverage that the team has had for last several years. I live 25 miles from Manhattan and cannot receive the broadcast on either station. I know I can watch the games on TV or listen on a computer, but like you, if I am in the car, I would hope I can listen to the games. He said he would pass the message to IMG along with his recommendations stating that this is an "area of priority." I also met Brandon Tierney a few years ago during halftime at MSG and told him the same thing. He said it was sad and disappointing to hear.

It's also sad that Rutgers games are broadcast on WOR-AM 710, a powerful NYC station that had been the radio home of the NY Mets for the last few years.

From Huntington to east New York never a problem getting games on either station. There are spots in Huntington I don’t get wfan, growing up I watched New England channels because they came in clearer then nyc stations....ch 8 abc 30 nbc 61 was fox

I agree with all the comments posted.
If we are New York's team, why don't we have a stable and listenable radio station to call home. Hopefully, our new AD will make this a priority for next season. It's a bit embarrassing. Time for less hype and more concrete actions.

You may want to try a few of the Radio apps available from the app store of your smartphone. Sometimes this works, sometimes it does not. In the past, I've been able to get Mets radio broadcasts while out of town. Not always a guaranteed fix, however.

I know this might sound sacreligius but I do not like LISTENING TO Minko doing the game. He falls behind, mumbles he makes it hard to follow the game. Gary Cohen does Seton Hall, maybe a younger fresher voice (Jerry Recco?) might be a better listen.

Cohen is terrific, Mink not

Not picking on Mink. He is great on WFAN just not calling a basketball game IMO

Fox uses regional guys for the broadcasts so that's why we got those two. FWIW they were giving us a lot of props last night.

The announcers did say nice things about the Johnnies, and in his piece from the Pac 12 game to follow our game, Lavin called us his "Beloved St. John's", never heard that from Jarvis or Fraschilla.

I don't tune in to our radio broadcasts too much, because I'm either at the game, or watching on TV.

However, I may have to do so on Saturday, with Vitale on the call for ESPN. Our school name, and our players, will never get mentioned once. His Duke love will spill out about 4,000 times.

Sorry but that couldnt be further from the truth.
Dick Vitale had SJU grad Howie Schwab on his side for two decades.
He is always talking up SJU. Tough to talk SJU up when they have been mediocre for so long.

I never accused him of being anti-St. John's. He is just so pro-Duke, that I feel it will get annoying on Saturday.

If we were playing any other team, I would be fine with him doing the game.
