R.I.P. Ralph Abraham

So sad to see this.

Aside from being a fan of his during his time with the Redmen, I was fortunate to have a conversation with him at the festivities following the renaming of Alumni Hall to CA. He was more interested in talking about education than hoops, and (as I've mentioned before in this forum) he told me how he once caught hell from Looie because he chose to study for a final rather than show up on time for a practice. Nothing was more important than taking full advantage of his opportunity for a college education, he said.

RIP, Ralph. You were a warrior on the court, a class act in life, someone who made the world a better place, and a credit to St. John's and your family.

Nice tribute redken. I shared two classes with Ralph in 69-70. He was a quiet kid who always sat in the back of the room.

I remember a Holiday Festival game back in '69 (?) We played a semi final game against North Carolina and beat them in an upset. Abraham scored 18 with a bunch of rebounds. After the game, he ran out onto the floor holding up a cup of (beer?) and toasting the fans. We lost to Alcindor and UCLA in the finals. RIP
