R.I.P Professor Tony Missere

Good guy. May he rest in peace.

I took his Intro to Sport Mgt. and History of Spirts classes. He always had great stories, even if the classes were not academically challenging. I remember him saying he lead the country in rebounds one year with like 20+/game.

He was also helpful in me securing an internship at Hostra athletic facilities dept for a summer where I got to work in their athletic facilities dept. At the time getting to be around behind the scenes of Jets training camp and seeing Parcells, Keyshawn Johnson, Hugh Douglas & Kyle Brady was the highlight. Little did I know, that seeing Jay Wright most days and who had his summer camp going was a future HOF coach.

Phil's dad and Robert Werdan's Uncle.

So sad to hear this news. I taught and coached Tony in high school. What a polite and bright young man. When my youngest son was entering St.John's and working as a manager for the basketball team Prof. Missere allowed my son to stay in one of his rentals in Jamaica Estates. He went out of his way to make space as a favor to me. Will never forget you in my prayers.
