FYI see the below which effects those who plan on taking the LIRR’s on November 8th or 9th.

There will be no Weekend LIRR train service on Nov. 8th and 9th between Mineola and Huntington due to track work. The LIRR will also close train stations at Carle Place, Westbury and Bethpage.

MTA officials will provide bus shuttles between Huntington and Mineola during the work the weekend of Nov. 8.

Officials said the train service will also lead to schedule changes on the Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson and Ronkonkoma lines. Commuters are encouraged by the LIRR to use the Babylon and Montauk branches during the weekend work.

The signal work could also stall Long Island sports fans going to the St John’s, Rangers and Knicks games. Those fans were urged to use South Shore trains instead.

For those who think driving and parking in Mineola will be the right move, keep in mind that with the shuttle buses and those looking to park there, you can expect much higher traffic than normal based on my experiences.

For those looking to pregame we are driving to the Montauk branch and will be partying on the train into Penn. How you get your car after the game is your problem :)

North side of Stewart Ave. between Covert Ave. and New Hyde Park Rd. should have unrestricted parking on a couple of the blocks if you are OK with 5- to 10-minute walk to Stewart Manor station. On way back if you've missed Stewart Manor you can also take New Hyde Park train if you don't mind the walk down to car. (It's a straight shot.)

Then you can all get together at King Umberto's afterward.

The King is the best!!

All great suggestions, thanks.

Not stopping in Forest Hills or Kew Gardens all weekend either, so F train here we come. After seeing the new Stout post game that is. Unless I go there at the ungodly hour of 10:30 AM.

It's a shame they're screwing with the trains for this one.
Better to do it now on the weekends when ridership is lower, you can actually get bus service to help cover and you do not have as many trains scheduled to run.

An inconvenience yes but you still can get to the Alabama game. The fact that the game is even mentioned in at least one of the MTA’s official Service Announcements shows the relevance of the our program and the expected crowd draw for the Alabama game. I don’t recall any of our games ever being included in one of these type of service announcements before.

Ronkonkoma Branch

Planned - Reroute
Nov 8 - 10, Sat 12:15 AM to Mon 2:15 AM
Ronkonkoma Branch trains run every two hours and are rerouted between Jamaica and Farmingdale

Between Jamaica and Farmingdale, trains will change directions twice but not make any station stops. Allow 50 minutes of additional travel time.
Trains will use bi-level cars, and realtime information will not be available on the TrainTime app.

There is no train or bus service at Bethpage. Use Farmingdale or Seaford stations instead.

There is no service between Ronkonkoma Branch stations and Hicksville, Mineola, or Elmont-UBS Arena.

If possible, consider using the Babylon or Montauk branches instead.
The last trains to run normally on Friday night will be the 11:37pm from Penn Station and the 11:52pm from Ronkonkoma. Service resumes with the 2:15am from Penn Station and 4:12am from Ronkonkoma on Monday morning.
Follow this link for a full list of the weekend's changes and maps of travel alternatives.

Port Jefferson Branch

Planned - Substitute Buses
Nov 8 - 10, Sat 12:15 AM to Mon 2:15 AM
Buses replace trains between Mineola and Huntington

Trains run in two sections:
  • Between Penn Station and Mineola
  • Between Huntington and Port Jefferson, every two hours
Buses run every hour between Mineola and Huntington, stopping at Hicksville, Syosset, and Cold Spring Harbor only. Limited shuttle bus service will be available overnight at these stations.
For service to or from Carle Place and Westbury, take a nearby n22, n24, or n35 NICE bus to connect with Hicksville, Mineola, or Hempstead. NICE is cross-honoring LIRR tickets.
If possible, consider using the Babylon or Montauk branches instead.
The last trains to run on Friday night are the 11:23pm from Penn Station and the 11:52pm from Huntington. Normal service resumes with the 1:58am from Penn Station and the 3:53am from Huntington on Monday morning.
Follow this link for a full list of the weekend's changes and maps of travel alternatives.

Permits not required at LIRR lots on the weekend.
Mineola will be crowded and may be tough to find parking, but you can try.
Careful, most lots at LIRR stations are not owned by the MTA and at some stations, spots are a mixture of town, village or MTA.

For instance, parking at Garden City is for Village Residents with Permits and you need either a Garden City Village Resident or a Non- Resident permit to park at the Nassau Blvd. Or Stewart Manor LIRR Stations
