For those old enough to remember Jayne Mansfield, proof to not always judge a book by its cover. And more music trivia, Mansfield recorded music throughout her career, including a couple of released singles in the mid- sixties in which the studio bass player on both was none other than Jimi Hendrix. I believe he also played some lead on them.
For anyone interested, the piece she is playing was written by Vivaldi.

surprised by all the press she garnered when she was "the girl", this was not recognized much at all. Though appearing on Sulllivan's show, would contradict that thought. Thanks for bringing to our attention, impressive.

Interesting lady, she was classically trained on violin and piano, multilingual, I have read she spoke 5 languages fluently, and also have read she was a Mensa member, don’t know either of those as fact. But she recorded songs in both English and German so I assume she spoke at least those.
And was not the least bit apologetic about being a “pinup girl/sex symbol”.

The incomparable Art Carney with a recording from 1954. Some musical historians have called it the first rap record, which I think is a stretch to say the least, but an interesting arrangement of the Christmas classic.

I could go down this rabbit hole forever but here is the last one, at least for a while. Carney on piano doing a duet with Cher. He was much more than an incredible comedian that could force Jackie Gleason at times to play straight man.

Art Carney or should I say Ed Norton could really bang out Swanee River on the keyboard 🎹!

Thirty four plus years ago, newly married to she who must be obeyed (born in Bucharest and came here when she was 18), I went to lots of movies that touched on Eastern Europeans living in the US. One of them was I believe called "Mr. Universe" about two Hungarian guys with a film project trying to reach Miki Hargitay, former Mr. Universe and widower of the late Jayne Mansfield. I believe there is a glimpse of early teen or 12 year old Mariska Hargitay in the film.
