proud of SJU!

I am so proud of this team, and of its coaching staff. We have no point guard, because the NCAA wants to ensure that Lovett does well academically. Fine, but they declare him partially eligible, which means he can practice, but not play. Practice takes up 95 percent of his time. I do not get their decision.

So we play a two guard at point. He expected to play the two, and shoot. He comes to the U.S. and suddenly he is the point! Wow! considering all that, Federico has done well. When he is open, and does not have to worry about feeding, he does well. He squares up and shoots well. Next year, if he stays, he should blossom, especially with someone else playing point. And, Playing point this year will also add to his offensive quiver.

Everybody did a great job today, especially Yakwe. Sima is probably gone for the rest of the season, and we have no true point. All I want is for this great group of fellows to get experience, and apply it next year. A few crucial additions next year, and we should be more competitive.

Empty coffers, that's what the previous staff left us with; and yet, Jones and Balamou, and Alibegovich have contributed. I am proud of this team, and its coaching staff. I am sticking with them!!

Well said.

We've got a re-emerging program that has the potential to exceed the NCAA berths Lavin got in his time, by doing a group of players that will fit the mold of what Mullin and his staff have a vision for that can gel together and represent us.

I have no idea what year will really be our year.. but my hope is that Mullin and staff stay around together for enough time and if things go well, they are open to going beyond the lengths of their initial contracts (which I think are 6 for at least Mullin and Slice - not sure of the others)... I'm also not naive enough to think if they do well, they won't look to move on (ex. St. Jean or Matt A) or if someone like Richmond is just here for a short stint of support for Mullin.

Mullin said early on he wants to get it back to where it was and then hand it off... I get it, but if he does it well, I'd love to see him stay beyond a six year contract and build a longer term legacy as coach.

Time will tell what the future holds for our program and school but it looks brighter each day this first season gets closer to concluding.

The effort is there but I do believe that they need to get big stops in the last four minutes of games. In both the Xavier and Marquette game St. John's had a chance to win but could not get the defensive stops they needed.

Lavin had the talent, but his teams never played to there potential, (except his first year and some of his last). Mullin is a gym rat and total effort guy and you can see the difference on the court. Slice and Matty A will bring the talent here.
