With our NET at #112, we'd need to probably win 75% of our remaining games to make the Tournament. Obviously that's pretty unlikely.

This game would be Q1, if it's actually played.

Unless the format is changed to an expanded field.

This game is on. It was a false inconclusive paaositive test that caused Saturday's game to be canceled. Since then everyone has tested negative.

Happy for the good news, now let's beat Xavier.

That is good to hear! Thanks for the update.

QUEENS, N.Y. – Following extensive and exhaustive testing of the men's basketball program's Tier One personnel, it has been concluded that testing and lab irregularities were the reason for the Red Storm's last-minute postponement of Saturday's game against DePaul. Following that determination, team doctors and University health officials have agreed that the program may resume full operations.

"First, let me begin by thanking our medical staff and University health officials, specifically Dr. Justin Classie, Dr. Kathryn Hutchinson and Jill Christensen, for their guidance and leadership during this challenging time," said Athletic Director Mike Cragg.  "While the decision to postpone Saturday's game was a tough one, we remain confident that we made the right choice.  To be sure, we are equally relieved and thrilled that follow-up testing has delivered good news and that we're set to resume our schedule."

"I'd like to thank our medical team and administration for their efforts over the past few days," said Head Coach Mike Anderson.  "Our kids and our fans have been tremendous in their patience and understanding of this obviously sensitive issue.  We can't wait to get back on the court and continue with the season."

St. John's will resume play on Wednesday at Xavier.  Tip-off is schedule for 8 p.m. on CBS Sports Network.

This is going to be a tough game and for me it would be a huge surprise if we win.  Xavier owns us.

When was the last time we beat xavier?

We beat them under Steve Lavin at home in the Garden February 23, 2015:     58 to 57 (see highlight video link below)

Since then we have lost eleven straight to Xavier:
Jan. 6, 2016 H L 66-74
Feb. 3, 2016 A L 83-90
Jan. 7, 2017 A L 82-97
Jan. 29, 2017 H L 77-82
Jan. 17, 2018 A L 82-88
Jan. 30, 2018 H L 68-73
March 8, 2018 H L 60-88
Feb. 28, 2019 H L 73-84
Mar. 9, 2019 A L 68-81
Jan. 5, 2020 A L 67-75
Feb. 17,2020 H L 74-77

Hopefully we can end that streak on Wednesday.

St. John's coach Mike Anderson tells me everyone is good to go for tomorrow against Xavier. Was a relief to resume practice yesterday. Said it's a credit to his players. #sjubb

That March 8th, 2018 game was a disaster. If I remember correctly that's the game where the scuffle happened during the handshake line and then Xavier Coach Chris Mack acted like a bitch in the postgame comments.

Scruggs is a tough, tough kid.  Might be my favorite PG in the BE.  Tandy can shoot the lights out.  Can't sleep on Freemantle or Kunkel.  They're like a better offensive version of Providence.  Doubt we get the game at our pace, and even if we do they have guys who can score.

It is near impossible to beat them on their home court. Even without fans, the officiating will be decidedly slanted against us. I almost got tossed one time, anyone surprised? /media/kunena/emoticons/whistling.png

I hate to admit this, but after the doldrum holiday hiatus, I find myself losing interest in this season rapidly.    I've always tied my interest to attending games and being around campus and MSG.   I'm sure that factors into my limited interest thus far.

A strong showing tonight would certainly help.  Are any of you feeling the same way?

The disjointed season (with all the stops and starts) and inability to attend games has definitely impacted my level of enjoyment.  That said, the string of depressing news and my limited ability to go out because of the pandemic makes me starved for a diversion.  I found myself quite depressed when the DePaul game was cancelled and am very much looking forward to tonight.

I agree Beast, it's such a fragmented and disjointed  season in all of college basketball . A win tonight would definitely keep me just as interested and focused on the season as I usually am. A loss and a poor showing , with this being such an odd season, would definitely cause my interest to start to wane.

Yep. I'm feeling the same way. Not being at games, especially at CA, is definitely having a negative effect on my interest. I also used to love watching all Big East games on television because I knew I would be seeing these other Big East teams in person, or had already seen them in person. This is a very strange year indeed. As others have said, maybe a win tonight would help change my mood.
