You would have to think Villanova has the players and coaches to be better prepared for the 40 minutes of hell then when we sprung it on SH.  This could be a season saving win if we get this one.  Its just a tough ask as nova is so well coached with veteran players.  We will see on Saturday.

Didn't Posh outplay Gillespie last year?  This is not a vintage Nova team and ripe for getting picked off if we play like we did last night.

Tough one, but don’t get crushed, keep it very competitive v solid, but not deep Nova & who knows. Losing if competitive, sustaining team confidence and then beating PC at home is ok with me.

Play good D and REBOUND will put us in position to win.

pre covid id def make the trip.   Is this on campus or in philly?
Pavillion
I'm sure tickets are scarce but the Pavillion is a great place to watch a game.   Their fans are very loud, almost equal number of male and female student attendees, but in my experience always well mannered.   The Pavillion is about as top notch a college arena given the fact that their plan to build a brand new arena ran into too many obstacles with the community regarding larger capacity, parking and traffic concerns.   I'm starting to convince myself to make the trip.

Yes, in their 1st matchup.  But then Gillespie outplayed posh in the 2nd game.

Its 1-1.  Who wins the rubber match?

I think we need to win 4 out of the next 5 to really put us in position to reach our preseason goals. Split with Villanova, beat PC at home and beat Butler and Georgetown on the road. That’s not an impossible task. This is not a vintage Nova team, we don’t play well at Butler but Butler is normally better than they are this season , Georgetown is not good and we owe PC.

The overnight transformation of Mean Gene into an optimist or you were hacked? :)

Nova kids, like ND students can be raucous but , always classy .  Rooting for your Team and School are part of the College Experience for these kids , including ST JOHN’S students .  Who seem well mannered and know the game . Now , if we could only get some of our Alums to open their Wallets like ND and Nova does , we might be on the right path . Athletically and Academically . Fr Shanley has a Resume that suggest he’s done it before at PC and can do it here too . Let’s get behind our team and school .

We'll be double digit underdogs here, worst possible game to have scheduled after getting some confidence but would be good to see same energy

The key to our chances against Nova is to force Gillespie to give up the ball
He is their glue guy
When Gillespie is not in control of the offense, their well oiled machine is not so well oiled

TEAM MANTRA-One game at a time.  Don’t look past. Nova.

Agree & to me a key is how much the refs allow physical play v CG, as well as his ability to draw fouls through headiness and of course his flopping “A Game”.

Nova putting us in foul trouble and controlling boards have often been to our detriment. Must say, they always defend well. Can we rattle them w pressure? Always a tough ask at their place especially, but let’s get it on!
