We have to come to play Saturday.  The Peacocks should have beaten us last year as we needed a last second miracle to win the game.  I know its not Duke coming in, but they are a huge step up from MVS.  St Peters was also up on VCU yesterday with under a minute to go, but ended up losing.  They can play.  Will be a nice early season test to see where we are as a team.

Yeah next 2 games should be good early indicators of what this team is. St. Peter’s is going to be a good, scrappy MAAC team. Don’t need to beat them by 50 for it to be a success but we should handle them. If we win by double digits and none of us are nervous heading into the last 10 minutes of the game that’ll be good enough for me.

Then assuming no let down against St Pete’s that away game at Indiana will be the first sign of if this is going to be a very good team or something less than that.

Don't think VCU is what it was the last couple years, how could they be when you lose a first round pick. Their starting PG also got hurt over the summer- picked to finish 5th in the A10 - but gotta assume they still install the Havoc D which made them a household name- so they are still a good test.

St. peters was down almost the entire game- with their star KC Ndefo (someone i was hoping would transfer here- from Elmont) only playing 16 mins due to what i presume foul trouble. They had 4 guys play 30+ mins with one guy off the bench playing 26. Clearly not a deep team, but expect this to be a real good test before Indiana.

Get these guys in early foul trouble- run on them- should be no where close to what last yr was. Given what we just did (covering a 40pt spread by 20) I assume the line will be around 18.

If we win by 15+, think that will be a real good sign. If not, a W is a W.

I do not believe that last year is a factor in predicting this year's game vs. St. Peter's.  Last year they scored 12 points more than their PPG average (and their highest game total for the year).  Plus we did not have Champ available for the game.  We have too many "horses" and they used 6 players versus VCU.  I expect a win by 10 or more as they will try to slow the game down

Big difference is that we are a ton deeper and have much more post presence.  It’s a good tune-up and escalation in difficulty which is good for us.  We need to be tested more heading into Indiana game.  Let’s get it done!

Looks like they go 6 or 7 deep so we should be able to wear them down a lot. The have no one who played last game taller than 6'7", although they do have 3 guys that height who can all rebound. Would think Soriano will be tough for them to handle down low.

Holloway is building something nice at a school that’s a tough place to recruit and win.

agree.  Can’t see him being there much longer before a bigger opportunity pops up.

Should be a better watch for a while anyway

Right now I do not overlook any one we play. Any team can beat us unless we see otherwise
but to me at this pt every game is important to this young team I would like to see better D

It will be interesting to see, as we go along how Coach Mike “tightens” the rotation. Right now everyone is seeing some time. The Indiana game in Bloomington is looming Wednesday night. That’s a game, I suspect we are going to see what he thinks about the real rotation and who the main contributors will be this season.

This thread lists the St Peter's game as being broadcast on FS2. For those of you who are planning on watching tomorrow's game on TV, please note the following:

The St Peter's game is currently listed on my channel grid as being on FS1 tomorrow on Comcast in South Florida. They list horse racing at 4 PM tomorrow on FS2.

I checked the redstormsports.com website. They also list the game as being on FS1, not FS2.

If in doubt, please send our resident TV expert, Moose, a PM for further clarification /media/kunena/emoticons/tongue.png

Personally I don’t want to see him tighten it much.   We have a lot of options and are deep.  I’d like to send waves at people and keep our defense pressing hard all game.  Use our height and or our speed when we need it etc.  we go 11 deep and most coaches will say that the depth thing is overrated but not in cma’s system.  I think we have 11 kids right now that can actually support that deep bench.
