If we can stop Reed as we did in the first game, 4 points and prevent Butz from getting easy put backs we should have a chance. Their guards penetrated we switched and he was wide open. I don't think they hit many three pointers at the garden.

The Johnnies had a solid win against DePaul. I don't think playing on their home court will make that much of a difference.

Both teams have only one conference win. It's the Johnnies best chance for a win on the road this season. If the Johnnies can't beat DePaul, who could they beat in the BE?

I expect a hard fought game. Nothing is easy in the BE.

This is a game where 'BEEF' Earlington could really make a difference. If he consistently boxes out he can keep Butz in check. I'd like to see a few more minutes from him. Reed is gonna have a field day though.

SJU struggles on road, but DePaul is a careless team and that could play to Johnnies’ strength; generating turnovers and deflecting passes leading to easy scores, disrupting DePaul offense. Hopefully this offensively challenged team can do that. This is winnable, but we’ll see.

I'm sure it's been said before, but if we're going to make a run to the NIT (or at least a .500 season), then it's now or never. Win a couple games now during our easy stretch and then build up confidence to upset a team during our rough stretch at the end of the season.

2-6 / 4 games below .500 would look a lot better than 1-7 / 6 games below .500.

Our 0-11 Big East team from 2 years ago completely turned things around (4 game winning streak starting with the Duke win), but it happened way too late in the season. The odds of going on a 4 game winning streak during that stretch were far less likely than this current stretch. This team still has time to salvage the season.

Also, don't forget that Lavin's last team started Big East play 0-5 and still made the Tournament. I believe they went on a 7 game winning streak.

Just keep playing hard as we have nothing to lose at this point. I'd love to see that same spark again that kept us in the game vs Butler, or simply ANY sort of win lol. I'm sure the staff is keeping the team motivated and we're certainly capable on winning at least another couple games.

I know one game is never a do or die situation unless you're playing in an elimination tournament, but I can't help feeling like this game is huge to our NIT hopes. If we can win one on the road (and I don't see us winning any other road games), I like our chances of going .500 at home the rest of the way given the schedule. In addition to that, we really need a win to stop the slide and boost the team's confidence going forward.

Butz played well at msg but Reed didn't. I've noticed a few times that he sometimes gets frustrated with missed shots, calls that go against him, etc. I think the keys to this game are not letting Reed and Moore establish themselves.

Butz did not play last game versus Creighton--what was the problem? Is he a go for tomorrow?

He was out with the flu. Usually, they only miss one game because of that.

Good for you. And you felt the need to post this bc you’re a moron?
