Konchalski took a seat next to me one year at the Peach Jam.  A friendly, down-to-earth gentleman.  I'm certainly wishing him the best.

Sat next to him watching a game at Holy Trinity HS a few years ago. Forever writing notes in his notebook. Real professional.

i talked to tom once at an is8 tourney. very likeable guy. his notebook was part of his hand.

JPM114 who is close to Tom;

"The high school hoops scouting business can trace its origins back to Tom Konchalski. From the time he first published HSBI until the last issue No one did it better. His impeccable scouting acumen and his unimpeachable honesty are not and never will be matched. #PrayersforTom"

An unbelievable talent evaluator but for anyone who knows him, hard to imagine a nicer person. I don't believe I have ever even heard a negative comment about the man. My prayers are with him and his loved ones.

Asking all fans of "The City Game" to take a few moments or as many as you'd like and say some prayers for a special man. Tom Konchalski, the legendary talent evaluator of H.S. basketball players from the Tri-State area and beyond for over 40 years has been waging a valiant battle to defeat the cancer that has attacked him.
Any of you who ever met Tom know what a great guy he is. His remarkable memory gave him instant recall on the names of players, coaches and all kinds of people he met through his basketball travels. That memory, observational skills and LOVE of basketball led him to a career as probably the most respected source of H.S. basketball talent in the USA. Until his recent retirement he was the editor & author of the HSBI (High School Basketball Index) which he took over from the legendary Howie Garfinke, founder of the of 5 Star Basketball Camp. Respect for Tom from youth, H.S. & College coaches is unmatched. Just this past week Tom entered a local hospice. Please pray for him.

Was in his company once at CTK. It was clear to me from that one encounter that he carried himself with grace, and was highly respected as a talent evaluator and as a person. May he RIP.
