Question is will they be able to play the game or will it be canceled due to Covid?
I wa ms going to go to this game but with these COVID numbers I just don’t think it’s worth the risk for me. After family spread this weekend I can’t see the numbers getting better

To Quote Shakespeare: "That is the question"

Redtorm89 has nailed it. The uncertainty of the Omicron Variant has taken the certitude out of everything about this season. I have a ticket for Wednesday's Marquette game, but haven't the foggiest idea of whether it will happen or not. Then if it somehow does happen, it is still pretty unclear what our roster would look like for the game. Of course there are many far more relevant things than sports right now but I must confess that I will still be very disappointed if the season falls apart.

St. John’s Games with Marquette, Georgetown PostponedRed Storm men’s basketball team’s contests postponed due to COVID-19 health and safety protocols

There are two options going forward:

1. Keep these ridiculous policies of testing vaccinated/asymptomatic players and not allowing them to play if they come back positive.
2. Have a season.

Can't have both.

Abbreviated schedule if any seems highly likely, can’t extend season with tourneys locked into dates and trying to reschedule so many games seems impossible.

We’re going thru this pretty early on so we have some maneuverability. What happens in late January/feb when a team is on pause for 2 weeks?

ncaa season is in real big trouble…

Also at what point do some of these top kids decide enough is enough and get ready for the draft

It may turn out that we play each BE opponent only one time.

This very well could be the answer, Knight.  Maybe the only way to preserve an even playing field.

Thay thought crossed my mind with Champ when it was announced that he'd miss a few games. Not that I expected him to bail back then, but I thought that if the cancellations were going to be an ongoing thing, especially if making the tourney was a long shot and/or if the tourney was in jeopardy of being cancelled, at some point he might just say "enough is enough".

I don’t think that’s Champs personality.I don’t  believe he would bail on his team mates, he’s not Lovett.

"Bail" was a poor choice of word on my part. I do think that if it turns out that there's a lot of uncertainty about the rest of the season, Champ will have to consider focusing on the draft. Why risk an injury if the season and tournament is up in the air? This isn't the same situation as Lovett's

I actually think Champ feels it's of importance to finish his degree (I believe he will be able to in 3 years). Obviously he can always come back years later and finish, but might be motivation to stick around.

112 couldn't he continue to pursue his degree while prepping for the draft?
