"While the NBA is always a possibility, he has already turned down NBA offers.
Mullin wants to bring SJU AND the Big East back to prominence. He was very upset when that whole BE implosion happened...said it was a shame since the BE was the best basketball conference in the nation.

He already has all the money he needs. At this point in his career, he wants to accomplish something big for SJU, for NYC basketball, for the conference and for college hoops. He won't be leaving for another college program any more than JT3 will. Smart guy, extremely knowledgeable basketball junkie and a nno-stop worker. I'll be very surprised if he doesn't have the Johnies nationally relevant again n a few years. And let's not forget, they play most of their home games in the mecca of basketball in the biggest media center in the world. NYC is still a bigtime college basketball town - just waiting for a team like St. John's to bring them something for which to cheer. Big time win for SJU and the BE.  "

Clearly the excitement of this hire is not just limited to just New Yorkers! A good St. Johns team is great for the entire Big East. Read more Hoya fan comments here:http://hoyatalk2.proboards.com/thread/28701/lavin-johns-closes-hiring-mullin?page=5

read other posts on this Board, one interesting one was on Chris's talent evaluation skills. His 4 First Round draft choices were pretty weak, believe only Belinelli still around. Picked up Monta Ellis in the second roundas 70th pick, all others basically washed out early. After he left GS scored with Curry and haven't stopped since.
