Posting to the main board

How do I get to be able to post on the message board? Been a member for a few months now, but cant seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hit yourself in the head with a hammer repeatedly and afterwards post often. Eventually you'll get promoted.

Go to Big East Boards dot com. Copy and paste to the Rookie Forum. Edit out all F words and insults. Keep all Latin phrases. The remaining two sentence should be enough to get promoted. Once on the main board disregard every thing you read except from Paultzman because everything else is either made up or embellished with very bad humor.

That was priceless!

Would be nice to see more than the same 6 guys posting...by the way not taking anything from them but there are way more than 6 SJ fans. Tends to be more of an echo chamber for the most part. Obviously it's up to the mods, but if you want younger fans it's something to think about. Before everyone attacks me because I'm Joe3, I should remind you that the last time I posted on the main forum here I was in my early 20's. Apparently a lifetime ban is in order, but it's a shame since none of you actually know me. A lot can get lost in translation or taken differently on a forum vs. real life. Would be nice to get a chance to finally move on from stupid things I said 5 years ago or so.

If you said stupid things 5 years ago that was during the much maligned Lavin years and should actually be reason to promote you because some of those things you may have said may now be considered prophetic.;)

Bill Murray once made a comment about celebrities which I now call the Bill Murray Two Year Rule, and I find it applicable to everyone now with the age of Youtube/Instagram, Kardashians and selfies. "When you become famous, you've got like a year or two where you act like a real asshole," "You can't help yourself. It happens to everybody. You've got like two years to pull it together — or it's permanent."

So you can feel like a victim of attack or maybe do some self reflection in your maturity. You've gotten off to an auspicious start out of the gate. Hoping it is not permanent for you.

Lol...Lavin was honestly a really nice guy and a pretty good recruiter early on. But he didn't pass the eye test. We had tons of talent but he couldn't develop it very well and even making the tourney a few times you didn't get a good feeling going in that we had a real shot unfortunately. Not sure yet if Mullin's the answer but one thing he's shown clearly is that he is getting maximum effort and passion out of these guys.

And yes I'm one of (also one of my friends) Mullin's Maniacs. We originally started Storm the Garden but we were contacted by the MSG lawyers who were actually very nice about it but told us not to use "The Garden" on t-shirts or our Twitter handle (no I'm not medium, I'm large now guys!). We also probably made a mistake by tagging Brooks in one of those tweets that sent the #sjubb hashtag into nuclear mode, but anyone who saw it knew we only meant well telling him we hope he stays and he has a bright future here. There was no negativity. Anyways, looking back it was probably stupid which is why I took it down. Lesson learned. Still think the reaction was way over the top but whatever. All we are trying to do is rally fan support and do free giveaways which is only positive. We have been working closely with the Red Suit Guys to align, so stay posted. We are doing everything we can to help this program, especially the younger fans. We even spent something like $300 buying wigs at Party City to give out to students in the student section for free for the Nebraska game. That was with our own money.

My point is that I believe we (and me specifically) are misunderstood. Trying to drown out the negativity and trolls who want to derail positive vibes on Twitter and focus on helping any way we can. Can we hold a funeral for Joe3 and bury him already guys? I didn't murder anyone. I was an idiot 5 years ago. Let's all get some beers sometime and laugh about it. Just want the best for this program and I've been very active rallying support behind the scenes.

I didn't know Joe3 was considered famous ;)

I believe the word is "infamous" and I don't like being in the spotlight either way hah. By the way, we've been talking to other student sections such as Michigan State, Miami, etc. to see what they do and how to improve ours. They've been cool and even congratulated us on the Duke and Nova wins. Trying to see what works for them and incorporate into our fanbase.

The program doesn't need your help. If you want to help, donate your money and let the professionals handle things. You've blocked half the fanbase on twitter, disappeared during our losing streak, and your instagram account is entirely plagiarized pictures. Just watch the games and leave the inner workings of the program to the people who are paid to handle it.

BTW I guessed you missed it B, but you've not been limited to the Rookie Forum since November.

SJURedmen, we blocked lots of trolls and/or people who only seemed interested in taking a positive thing and making it negative. We don't have interest in giving a platform for such things on a fan page. What I can tell you is that the coaches and Goff are on board and know what we're doing. They appreciate it. If you're one of the ones we blocked on Twitter, we can make a truce and we will unblock you if that's the case as long as you don't try to derail anything. Not sure if that's the case but if it is, let me know your username so we can unblock you.

And Paul thank you, I was not aware of that.

I don't want to be unblocked, or make a truce with you. I appreciate your passion for the program but you need to realize that you aren't a student, and your role as an alum is to buy season tickets, go to games, and donate money to the school. You can't contact recruits and act like some representative of the school. You could (and possibly already have) hurt the program that way. The students have a funded organization to promote school spirit, let them handle the fan participation stuff.

Fair enough, SJURedmen. I may not technically be a student but I graduated from grad school at SJU in 2014, so I'm still much closer to that than older alumni. Once I'm further in my career I definitely plan to donate. As for going @ recruits, all we said was we hope he stays. Nothing earth-shattering as is being implied. I probably counted 10 SJU fans yesterday tweeting recruits and not one of them got the same reaction from other fans. In fact they got none. But I'm not going to be doing it anymore...although other fans will. Acting like a tweet to a recruit has any real impact on their decision is silly...unless of course it's so extremely over the top i.e. hateful, personal attack, etc. Not justifying it, I won't be doing it again but just saying.

To act as if everything is perfect already in the student sections makes me wonder if you've seen them in person or been in them. I mean that honestly. I have sat in the student section several times this year already and I attended the Duke game from another section. While we just started pulling away from Duke, I observed maybe 3 students cheering. When Duke shot freethrows, 2 or 3 had their hands in the air. They were pretty quiet...you'd think we were playing St. Peter's. The promotions are totally lacking and there is little organization in terms of starting chants, being on the same page, etc. My sense is that if it were anyone else making these points, you'd wholeheartedly agree. I know many do agree with me even in silence. How many times are people on here saying we are run like a mom and pop shop? Goff has improved the communication, merchandise, etc. but we still need a lot of work on the student sections and fans in general. IMO it takes a lot of willpower to notice huge SJU fans trying to help the program and then try to paint us in a negative light.

You're a decade older than half the students, you have no business in the student section. The $300 you spent on wigs would've had a far greater impact in the form of a check to the school/ticket office.

And yes, I have seen the student sections and was in them for 5 years while I was in school. They are lively when we win and aren't when we don't win. Simple as that. Last Saturday is a great example, best crowd we have had in years. I'm not defending students, but I don't think it's your place as a man to be leading student initiatives. Like I said, Redzone is funded by the school to do that stuff.

I actually don't know anyone who isn't blocked by you on twitter. It's actually become a joke amongst my friends to see who can get blocked by you by saying the most harmless thing to you. And the only interaction I saw between you and Goff wasn't a positive one, it was him calling you out for starting a completely bogus rumor saying Carnesecca is being renovated.

I respect you passion for the program, but you should harness it in a more effective way.

Those who are respectful and refrain from trolling are not blocked. Unfortunately there are a lot on Twitter...the Pharve guy literally started a bogus rumor that Matt A almost got into a fight with a player. Take issue with that stuff which can truly do harm, not a few guys trying to rally fan support. We are not only trying to rally students but also any fans interested. By the way, graduate school is full of people in their mid to late 20's...there are more programs than just undergrad. I'm 28 lol...you're making it seem like I'm some 50 yr old creep sitting next to 18 year olds. Other twentysomethings also sit in the student sections. I don't always sit there, only sometimes...they make student section tickets available at MSG and CA by the way so it doesn't absolutely have to be for current students. As for the CA renovations, what if the source was the very guy you claim had "negative" interactions with us? We wouldn't just post things to see what sticks. After we posted it, Goff said he's not sure where the rumors came from but if you read what else he said, he all but confirmed it was happening. It's the same as a press conference...if there's a trade rumor, the front office guy can and often will deny rumors until they officially sign the guy. He never said "no", he said they're looking into it. These things take time so let it play out and you will see. Of course he wouldn't be blunt and put everything out there going on behind the scenes, nothing is official yet (keyword).

We get lots of people telling us we're going a great job and as I said, coaches and staff are on board. They even helped promote us when we were Storm the Garden if you remember. If we have their blessing, we're going to keep going. Thanks for your suggestions, but the overwhelming reaction to the group has been positive. I'll never see a problem in rallying fan support for a program I'm a fan of and I'm not sure how anyone could to be honest. No one's forced to follow us, let's just focus on the DePaul game and get some redemption. The NIT is getting more and more realistic and we still have an outside chance at the tourney if we finish strong and win a few BET games. Love the team we have and they have chemistry that Lavin teams didn't seem to as much.
