Posh & Andre C Piece

Per Jaden Daly
Mike Anderson on Andre Curbelo: “His demeanor every day, he’s always teaching. He got into Kolby (King) the other day…that was his way of saying, ‘Hey, I gotta get you ready.” #sjubb

Mike Anderson on Andre Curbelo and Posh Alexander: “They like to give it up, but they can score, too. I got two point guards that, I think, will bode well for our basketball team.” #sjubb

Andre Curbelo on Posh Alexander: “I know lot of people are probably asking, how’s this gonna work? They’ve been able to make the process pretty easy.” #sjubb

Andre Curbelo: “I wouldn’t say there’s anything to prove, to be honest. I think I’m aware of who I am, the kind of player I am. I just gotta go out there, don’t have to prove anything to anybody. Everything will take care of itself. I’m itching to play, I’m very hungry.” #sjubb

He says several things that I recall posting about him coming home and being comfortable which I think will make a huge difference in his play this year.

In the open practice, he made several passes in tight windows and you were like "wow". One pass he made on a 3 on 2 fast break where he dimed a bounce pass to a trailer for a basket was jaw dropping. With him and Posh you need to always have your hands ready.

One thing, he did not shoot it well from the outside. I don't know if he changed his release or technique but he was a much better shooter in high school. I know the game is faster and they come after you quicker at this level, but something just seems off about it. We have time to fix it though.

Him and Posh will be dynamite when they are on the court together and when one is taking a breather on the bench.

I've had my reservations of this pairing from the moment Curbelo announced he was coming. While Posh seems more likely to give up the ball and become a scorer, I just don't see their union on the court as a "productive" alliance. Independently, perhaps, but at the same time, not sure. While the trip to the DR was early, there was nothing in those games to make me think otherwise. Hope I'm wrong but we shall soon find out.

We shall see, but theres plenty of reason to be optimistic- neither has to be ball dominant and are willing to give up the ball, Posh is stroking it better from 3 (not off the bounce), AC will get acclimated to CMAs system and not force things. In DR I recall AC giving up the ball to Soriano around the left wing, and if he dove to the rim he would have been wide open. But he stood on the wing for a moment and clogged things up.

Obviously his greatest area of imrpovement is his outside shot. All he needs is to keep the D honest so they dont clog the middle.

Im very excited for the upcoming season... although im always excited before a season starts.
