Porter Moser / St. John's article in Post

Watched Moser and Sister Jean on the Today show yesterday morning. Loyola and Nova are two teams I'll be rooting for this weekend even though I have neither in my Elite 8 brackets. Sounds like it will be difficult to convince Moser to leave the midwest. Good for him. Sister Jean will be very hard to replace; a real treasure.

unfortunately for us in the BE, and us following Loyola as I do, I think Marquette may be a real possibility.  He will get Marquette's reputed talent playing the right way, or get others who can, thus making them a real force in the BE.

With the success that Moser has had with Loyola the last few years, why would DePaul or Marquette be attractive to him ? Unless it’s $$$$. Staying at Loyola and in the Conference they are in , he could take Loyola to the same path as Gonzaga .  To me , the DePaul job is a Career ender. Worse than even we were before CMA .   It’s had numerous good quality Coaches and they really haven’t done much since a long time ago . Leitao had good talent this year but , theTeam  never came together , except against MU in BE . It’s.a shame as they were once considered a High tier program going back to the Meyers .  Cragg handled the PR of the Coachibg search well after this story in the Post . Made it seem like they hadn’t offered or intended to offer Moser.  As I recall  Cragg didn’t get involved withCMA until Moser had withdrawn from consideration . Consideration meaning “ I’m not taking the job but , I’m not dishonoring the School that was offerring .”   It’s good PR all the way around .

I'm not  sure Moser is anxious to  leave Loyola unless another midwestern school blows him away with  $$$$. He's got a good gig there.

Assuming he leaves Loyola and has any interest in DePaul.

With Shaka headed to Marquette DePaul definitely has to be the favorite for Moser.

Was suprised to see that after the first FF run Moser's package jumped from about $450K to just over $1 mill.  Didn't think LUC would be paying that much.  Still he could double his pay or more at a bigger school if the money is a motivating factor.   Just not sure that it is his primary motivation.

With higher compensation comes higher expectations and a lot more pressure and scrutiny. Moser is obviously very content where he is, and he seems like the type of person who could spend his entire career at Loyola. But when crazy money is getting thrown at you, it's sometimes hard to turn it down. Especially if he doesn't need to relocate.

Coaching is stressful. But doing it in a one-bid league makes it even more stressful.

The appeal of DePaul vs SJU is not DePaul itself but Chicago vs NYC.  His family has deep ties to Illinois.  Having said that yeah not sure that DePaul has the cache to lure him at this point.  If his wife said yes 2 years ago I think Porter Moser would the HC at SJU btw.

Gonzaga is an outlier that took a lot of years to build and started as a magnet for foreign players which led to success and ultimately enabled them to recruit top notch players on a regular basis,...Loyola’s success has occurred when they have had senior laden teams...don’t see them (or maybe anyone) becoming another Gonzaga...Pitino who can turn anything into gold doesn’t have enough years to do it at Iona
