Phil Greene

Thanks Tom. He sounds good.

Noticed in the Mark Fratto piece (http://www.redstormsports.com/sports/m-baskbl/spec-rel/081111aaa.html) that his favorite subject is math. Rare for a college bb player. Majoring in Sports Management at SJU however.

Makes sense. He was able to add up all the wins he's going to a part of under Lavin

Nothing wrong with that. Mike Repole majored in sports management as well I believe.

MCNPA - didn't mean to imply that there is anything wrong about majoring in Sports Management at SJU. My son did and he's getting an Emmy this year. Between us I'd prefer that he became a billionaire but all things considered I'll settle for the Emmy,

Congrats... OT but I think SJU should increase their exposure to sports management and push to copy Syracuse's communications program. Doesn't need to be as big as Newhouse, but similar model. Some things are just logical fits for SJU to focus on. Hope the next president is forward thinking and really develops some programs that SJU is a real fit for. SJU should revamp and aim to have a top 10 multi-focus Communications department. Make it a destination school for those that enter the field. NYC as a media hub it just makes sense to make it a flagship program at SJU.

Francesa can head up the dept. :woohoo:

Phil Greene is just a great kid.
In speaking with the players on campus last week they were all unanimous on how good a player Phil Greene is. They were to a man enamoured with his game. We currently have 3 dynamite players in the backcourt with PG, DH and NL. Add MS who should be team captain this season and our backcourt is set for the immediate future.

Kid has broad shoulders. I just have a feeling he is going to be a good one.

It appears coach Lavin really likes his game too.

Nutshell:

Lavin prefers talent over experience and of course prefers both. Loves wiry long athletes in his zones. Feels those builds are less prone to injury, likes his players attitude and thinks people might be sleeping on Greene. Nothing much else.

Heard the same RT @QSTJHoops: #stjbb RT @JonRothstein: St. John's coach Steve Lavin said freshman guard Phil Greene has been impressive in workouts
