Pathway to 21-12 (10-10)

5/6 seed w needing 2 BET W to dance-

Wins in green.
Losses in red.
In between on the 3 yellow home games, need 2/3 there or an upset of the losses already marked.

We’re playing much better I think we’re going to step up over these last 13 and make up our 3 in the loss column.

Fingers crossed on Moore redshirting this entire year the way Nova is panning out. Longino already ruled out, their depth is bleak. We need next Friday night infront of great crowd.

Maybe more 20-13 (9-11). I know the loss to Nova at home was deflating, but why can't we still be on pace for this? While we all hoped or expected we'd be in the upper 4 of the conference this year, it is disappointing that, at best, we'll have another middle of the pack finish. And given the injuries to Posh, Mathis and Pinzon in our back court, would expecting more that be simply unrealistic?

My hope is that we somehow get a number 5 seed and start the BE tournament on Thursday, rather than Friday. While seemingly remote now, as we'd have to leap over 3 teams to do that, I'm going to focus on that rather than what could have been.

All those games in green should be yellow as we don't know which team will show up. Like the optimism though.

Unfortunately, our guys played poorly for nearly the entire Creighton game and much of the Georgetown game. The offense was awful against a so-so Villanova team that could have been beaten easily. I see no real reason for optimism. I will continue to cheer as I have for close to 60 years, but am going to be a realist. While the defense is better than earlier in the conference schedule, the turnovers, mostly unforced, just seems to get worse by the game. The guys we need on the floor are just turnover prone. Why should that suddenly change?

You can say that about any team in CBB, and certainly the BE. They showed up against PC and then UConn, when no one expected them to. While many think yesterday's win against G'town was merely fortunate, G'town, particularly Primo and Wahab, showed up and almost stole one. Any team in the conference can do that. That, again, is the hallmark of the very unforgiving BE.

If CMA doesn't continue to lose games, because he lost the players, there is a chance. He is still an awful tactician.

I think you meant open BE Tourny on Thursday instead of Wednesday.

I have been to almost every BET since it moved to the Garden after the early years of the original BE.

I can't stand playing the first day, and often times losing that first day.

When the BE got gargantuan was there a time we didn't get to play in the BET?

true he is not a good tactician; but the players' fight and enthusiasm, even after some ill-time emotional outbursts, shows me they haven't quit. Looking forward to seeing a good effort against SH.

Don't forget the Norm Roberts era. The Big East was 16 teams and not every team qualified. St John's missed it a few times

It pains me to revisit this, but New York’s team, St. John’s missed the Big East Tournament four times (2004, 05, 06, 08).

2004 - 14 member Big East would field a 12 team Conference Tournament. 13th Place Miami and 14th place SJU did not qualify.

2005 - 12 member Big East after Miami and VT defection to the ACC. All 12 Teams were to participate in the Conference Tournament but our self imposed penalty for Jarvis-Honest Abe fiasco caused Mike Tranghese to field an 11 team bracket.

2006 - 16 member Big East with additions of Cincy, Louisville, Marquette, DePaul and South Florida and BC defection to ACC. 12 team field as SJU, Providence, DePaul and USF did not qualify.

2008 - 16 members, 12 team field. SJU, DePaul, USF and Rutgers did not qualify.

Alone in 6th, 1G game out of 5th at the end of Wednesday’s schedule if-

DePaul outplays UConn in Chicago tomorrow night.

We defend home court against Hall in emotional red out rivalry game.

Nova likely loses in Milwaukee Wednesday night.

Thank you ESPKen I thought it was once or twice but 4 times (3 times if you take out the self-imposed one) is too much of a horrible memory that I blocked it out. I had tix and had buddies from several other BE schools I went with and because we weren't in the Tournament I suffered for the entire time. IT WAS AWFUL. As awful as seemingly losing to Providence in our first game in the bET year after year.

Thank you for compiling this even if it is sad. I have blocked out so much of that period that I had almost no recollection of South Florida in the Big East.
