Owens Vs a Guard

Pretty much says it all when Tariq gets the ball down low with Carrington on him and he passes it out right away, seconds later, Ponds posts Carrington up off the inbounds and scores an easy basket. There was another play later on where Owens ended up with a guard on him and he did nothing. Disappointing.
Anybody notice when Tariq was wide open underneath and Ahmed didn't pass him the ball? You could see Alibegovic throw his hands up on the bench as if to say;"what the hell is wrong with you".
I know everybody gets defensive about Mullin, but this game was another example of poor coaching. Even with the incredibly long timeouts late in the game, his players walk on the court totally unprepared for what happens. How many times have you see fouls when we didn't need them, yet passive defense when we needed to foul? Some better in game late coaching and this team would be 4-5 games better and headed to the tourney, instead they are under .500.
Good game by Clark, but 2 miserable mistakes by him hurt, not boxing out on the missed foul shot, letting a Guard out rebound him to get the put back and a truly lousy pass to Owens running down on the break. Why would you pass to Owens running at full speed 25 ft from the basket?

The referees were either incompetent or paid off because we lost this game because of the refs. Only one sequence needs to be discussed as there were just too many. In the overtime Owens was hit in his neck by an elbow and seton hall scored; Owens on the next play was then backed up and pushed to the floor and the Hall scored again. Those were the first 4 points for the Hall in overtime and on neither play was a foul called. It was a total joke. Those refs need to go.

I wouldn't go that far, blaming the refs for the loss, but it is concerning that after Delgado spoke to the refs heading into the timeout, the rest of the calls went his way.
How about a 3 second call though? I don't think I have seen one all year.
That said, if Ahmed makes two gimmies during the course of play, this game probably doesn't make it to OT.

Maybe because Owens was 25 feet away from his spot and couldn't dribble that far without losing the ball. Thanks for your post Renard - now go sell some houses. I agree with your accumen, and really think Van Gundy should have been fired when Ewing missed the finger roll vs. the Pacers. I mean, what coach can't teach a finger roll? For that matter Riley sucked as a coach also, because he couldn't teach Charles Smith to make a layup in a big spot.

On the other hand, Ahmed could have seen Owens underneath and said, "Cool, there's my rebounder. Time to shoot"
