Trust me when I say this I'm as mad as everyone right now and I wouldn't even post what I really wanted to say yesterday. I agree with a lot of the posts and I am just as guilty as everyone doing rapid angry posts during games and after.

BUT let's all ( including me ) just try to remember that these kids are just kids-young adults and sometimes the knocks on them are overboard without naming names. These kids chose to play for us. That makes them our kids too. Think about it this way. How many times do we see arguments from posters here on any topic that turn into a shouting match and people practically wanting to fight each other a lot of the time with people who have never met.

It's real easy to fall into the trap of it's just the internet. Well what happens next is people write something they go to far or make something too personal  and another poster rightfully gets offended. Well if posts like that to each other here affect us so much personally and most of us are older adults how do you think one of our kids feels if they read the board or their friends or family do and see some of the stuff written. I've worked for my same company same office for 30 years and if I knew someone was saying on a message board that I was likely to leave to go somewhere else I'd probably punch them because they dont know me personally.

My own personal rules that I try to live by on this board which is why I use my name as my screen name ( but absolutely can deviate from at times ) is treat people the way you want to be treated and never say something to someone here that you wouldn't say to them in person. Again I'm just as guilty in going off the rails sometimes and criticism is fair but when you take it too far in the heat of your own anger maybe we should all reread what we are about to write or not write the same post 20 times

At the end of the day these kids ( our kids ) are Johnnies

Great post Mike.  Panther's wisdom is rubbing off on you.

Fully agree to not make it personal and offensive with the kids on the court wearing our red & white colors.

(Coach and admin is another story for me...lol)

Thanks for the heat check...

Nathalie would dispute that sometimes :)

Panther and Weathermannyc. I called Weatherman last night to calm me down off the ledge and Weatherman as most know is going through his own very serious health issues and he brought up an excellent point that there are things more important in life than a win or a loss. Like life itself and other things. It didnt help when I was on the phone with him but an hour later when I thought about it more he was on the money

Mike - Most of my criticisms which I repeat often are with the way the program has been run and some other factors that are certainly out of the scope of the players.

There are certain things that are obvious and I don't think are offensive, like the fact that the team shot very poorly and were beaten badly on the boards in the Seton Hall game or even that Julian's shot has not been falling lately or that last years team seemed to have more cohesion. These are all things they are going to here on TV or in the newspaper.

I think the frustration that the program hasn't won an NCAA tournament game in 21 years is what occasionly sets me off and your post is a good reminder not to cross over a line and make statements about the players that berates, bullies or as I am glad you pointed out specualates on their personal decisions. I know I have been guilty at times and will be more cognizant in the future.

I totally agree with you and I have never thought your posts have gone too far. And I agree with everything you just said. The 20+ years of mostly frustration has rightfully worn us down as fans. And it's not like I think anyone is intentionally being an @ss. We are all frustrated just in the heat of a game or after our emotions can get the best of us for me the last 2 games have been absolute torture

Mike, best post of the season!!!! I was just messaging another poster this morning that I try when posting (and for sure do not always succeed especially when it comes to politics and posts during games) to post something I wouldn't be embarrassed for the subject of the post to know was from me if I were to meet them in person.

Thanks and yeah I always thought you and I have the same approach as a lot of others here just sometimes we all get caught up in a game.

The best example I can give of in my opinion a very fair reasonable approach to a player having a bad game look at Redmannorth's post on the bottom of page 2 of the post game thread yesterday. Wusu had a horrible game but he's had a lot of excellent games and RMN was VERY fair with his critique. To me that post of his is the gold standard when talking about a player having a bad game

Thanks for all this Mike.

PS - please don't give RMN too much credit, then we will all have to listen to it.

I am just kidding, sorry RMN
