Moose, it says he wants to play at Kentucky.
We have 7 years to work on him and my son to be in our back court together.

He still has plenty of time to grow and my question is if he will be able to adjusted his shooting when he does.

The 10-12 year old prodigies rarely pan out. There was one kid I remember seeing at ABCD back in 2003. He was the brother of one of the kids in the all-star game, and I swore he'd be a star. He bounced a ball nonstop throughout the day playing with all the other kids, and his handle was like nothing I've ever seen. I wish I asked who that kid was because I'm curious to see what became of him.

Marillac, Sean Miller was on tv at age 8, he turned out pretty good.
There certainly are exceptions.

Nuri ;)

Here is an article in the NY Times on that 11-year-old 5th grader. Apparently he's all the sensation on youtube.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/17/s...size-stand-out-but-so-does-his-talent.html?hp

Here is one quote from the article:

"Julian fills his days by spending time in a gym or at the hoop in his front yard, where his father, Jamie, the Downey Christian coach, has painted lines to approximate a college court. Julian sinks 100 free throws, 200 floaters and 200 jump shots every day. On 3-point attempts, he leans into the shots slightly, as if to guide the ball telepathically."

Recruit the back up point guard. He probably has all american potential, but sees no time over the coaches son.

At this point in time, the only PG I'm concerned about is Jamal Branch and how long it will be before he's back into our starting line-up.

Is that short for a fifth-grader? My daughter is 4 feet tall and she's in kindergarten.

While we are at it speculating about future pros let's really jump the gun on Kentucky et al., how about posters who are planning to have children - can they (the unborn) be recruited now - with home visits to the expectant mother?
:)

SJU can start a new precedent.

I have a letter from FF immediately received after the birth of my first son.
No one can accuse Fran of not being on the ball ( ha ha ).

We should establish the ultimate height of all of his forebears up to and including maternal and paternal great-grandparents before closing in on the boy.

This story and video show me absolutely nothing....

First off, as the article said, the competition around him is bad, and because of that he is forced to play on the varsity level. So it's not like he is playing against even remotely average competition......it is downright awful. I'm sure there are young kids all over the country that could do well in that same situation playing that competition.

Secondly, if you watch the video closely, there is a severe lack of defense being played on him, especially when he drives. There are a few instances when you can see the defender want to block the shot, but they hesitate and pull back. Do you really expect an 18yr old kid to legitimately block an 11yr old?? And the minute they do, people will be calling for their heads for lack of sportsmanship..... It's a no-win situation for the defense, either do nothing and let him shoot/score, or shut him down and get called out for being 'bullies' and picking on the little kid.

I see this as nothing more than a giant publicity stunt by a father/coach who thinks his kid will be the next Jordan or Lebron........

Girls grow much faster than boys until boys catch up then surpass them.

That wasn't really my point. My point was that he was short. He sounds like he'll end up being about 5'7". Unless you are Keith "Mr." Jennings, you'd better grow.
