Otto Porter vs. Maurice Harkless

Wow, I just saw Otto Porter destroy Syracuse. Over 30 points and controlled the game. What a performance from
this young man. What I don't understand is last year their was clamoring for him to turn pro, but he decided to
stay at Georgetown and now I feel they are a genuine Final Four favorite. What changed his mind? The question is will he turn pro
now or stay another year with the Hoyas. As I remember the scouts had him as a better prospect than Harkless.
Sadly, it does give us a glimpse at what this year could have been had Harkless stayed. Sometimes the hardest
recruiting battle you will ever have is with your own players in recruiting them to stay. Louie found that out
with Walter Berry, who as I remember they had to virtually watchdog as he waffled on his decision everyday.
I wonder how coach Thompson will handle it, and how much Porter's draft position has changed. $$$$$

Someone on here laughed at me when I called Georgetown an elite 8 talent let alone a final four team. Wonder what he's thinking now whoever it was.

Ditto. Enjoyed watching G'town shoot down the Cuse and their 35,000 fans. Porter is an all around all american who will go in the top 10 of the NBA draft, had 33 points while the rest of Hoya's scored 21. As far a I am concerned JT3 deserves Coach of the Year in the Big East. Not alot of stars on his team but do they play together, heck of a defensive effort today.

Georgetown is a sleepy final four team right now. They are playing very well both on the road and at home. They have a solid go to player in Porter and guys around him in the right roles. I expect them to make a lot of noise. Good for them.

You also claimed Villanova was a terrible team, and how losing to them in OT on their court was an embarrassment, and the season was over. I believe this is the same villanova you can't stop raving about now.

How are they sleepy? They're 22-4, and mostly crushing their Big East schedule. They also regularly hold their opponents under 50 points. They're a 2 seed, likely, right now, and a possible one seed if they continue doing what they do. A lot of depth.

Gotta go. To much at stake. Can he have a better year and still play a team game?

I totally agree. This is a weak draft, so he probably will go lottery. Lots of good "one-and-done" freshman supposidly coming in next year, so even if he plays to the same level, his stock might drop.

Georgetown, unike a team we know and love, moves the ball crisply on offense with purpose. Textbook basketball, very good offensive sets executed with lots of discipline.

Yes but can they dribble in circles?

It was me. I think they have a better chance than they did when I made that comment but they still have trouble scoring. At least they've broken 50 every game since then (I mean really, at the time they had scored 48 or less in 20% of their games and lost to USF). But they're still rarely breaking 60 against good teams with a max of 63. I think that could cause problems. Great D though. Depends on the match-ups but I definitely don't think they're one of the 8 best teams in the country.

With a halfcourt offense, they use a lot of clock, hence less possessions and lower scores. This could actually help them get through the tourney since they may encounter big teams that will have to chase them all over the court while they move the ball.
