Orlando Sanchez / Knicks

Look, I'm happy for him and hope he makes the Knicks. But if he does make the Knicks, I'm going to throw up thinking of how he played for us.

Well take a TUMS than. Remember he was coming off sitting out a year, was a juco trying to fit into an established team and showed flashes and I didn't think he was all that bad. Put up nice reb numbers for minutes played. Really feel if he had that second year with us could have blossomed. Also should have had him posting and playing down low more than we did.

Thank you Dr. Bamafan. But I question where you got your medical license. Tums are not an anti-vomiting solution. :p

The fact is, he did not have a second year with us. And for the one year he did have, while he wasn't horrible, he fell way short of expectations. Agree he should have been posting and playing down low more than he did,

But, if he's playing in the pros the same way he did here, then his game might be more effective in the pros, where he can be an over sized 2, then as a 3 or 4 in college.

so first year players make 525k and then it goes to 850k the 2nd year ?

Wow Karr in line to get a nice raise

From St. John's?

University of Dayton. My alma mater wouldn't accept me, the bastards! :) Passed NYS bar on first try anyway so they did me a favor, going away was best thing for me. To stay on topic, I liked OS game, what can I say?

Good for you.

And I hope he does make the Knicks. As much of a disappointment I thought he was when he played for us, I always thought he was a good guy and got a raw deal by the NCAA.

Where's Marillac to tell us how much better the team is without Sampson and Sanchez?

Addition by subtraction my a$$

I honestly believe we would have made the NCAA tourney last year if we did not have Sanchez. I like the player but think he got in the way of Obekpa and Pointer who have proven to have been more worthy of mins this year and actually play some defense. I don't feel the same about Sampson. I think our chemistry was pretty good the year before and we would have been special this year if he came back.

The two of them together with Greene and Harrison though were not a good mix. Too many players who shoot first and were not good defenders.

I'll take 2 guys who were better off picking a different school for $1000 Alex

What did we do last season?
We ended the season losing ugly games to Providence and Robert Morris.

If the two worst teams in the NBA want to add guys that have no future in the league so they can have a better shot at the #1 pick, let them.

We sucked last season. We are better this year. By how much, we'll soon see, but the bar was set very low.

By "better" I assume you mean our record in conference & getting an NCAA bid. Losing tomorrow & having a 3 & 6 BE record may translate to having a poorer conference record than last season and missing Tourney like last year. Beat Butler, get on a little roll & you may be right down the road.

The league is much better this season and our schedule is harder so overall record should not be the only measure. The RPI strength of the conference, and where we end up (NCAA tournament) should obviously be considered.

I agree that the conference is better overall this year, but its time to apply the eye test to this discussion. Last year's team was better than this year's team -- and its not close. Last year we were much more balanced and had much more depth. We could withstand a few early fouls by one of the starters, and we actually had some inside scoring. the only advantage this year's team has over last year's team is that our lack of depth has allowed Pointer to play more minutes, and he has shined. However, that is more than overshadowed by the number of games that we have run out of gas at the end (Villanova, Duke) and games where foul trouble killed us (several).

If the two teams played each other, last year's team would win 8 out of 10 times.

Uh, isn't that why you have a coaching staff?

I dont think last years team looked better than this years team at all. And to say it is not close is just strange. Our passing is much improved, our 3 starting guards have all improved their fg% by a solid amount. Dom is playing like a whole different player. I think if anything, the eye test shows we are a better team, while our record shows we havnt improved much.

Lasts year team was deeper and more talented. Lavin spent too much time substituting and experimenting w lineups. Ironically, looking back, if Dom played the 4 last year, we would have been better .Chemistry is better this year. DLOs injury and Sheeds antics really hurt ,however. . Remember at the end of last year Greene and CO almost transferred.
