As I saw the BET cancelled I thought of what Marlon Brando said - I could a been a contender
Yes st John's could have made the finals . For once we were in the right bracket. We beat a Georgetown team weakened by transfers and injuries. Now we were beating Creigton a team without their guard and we could have won. We could have beaten Butler or Providence and then it is the championship game where who knows. We could a won. We could a been a contender!!

Except I don't think this team has "a one-way ticket to Palookaville." On the contrary.

One of the best clips in movie history.

This team took its share of punches and ended the season on their feet. Big comeback win against Georgetown...and coming back against Creighton to finish the half in the lead. Outstanding!!

Make no mistake about it, Creighton was not going to go down without a huge fight in the 2nd half. Yes I am sorry we didn’t get the chance to finish them off, but I won’t dwell on “what could have been”. I would rather celebrate “what was”.

Guess that depends on how you qualify “great”. I consider this season a “great” success based on expectations and Heron injury. I wish we would have won a few more league games and I wish the season would have continued a little bit longer with possibly a few more wins in the BE Tourney and an NIT run, but it is what it is. We had no control over what happened with season ending. I got more enjoyment out of this team then any other team in recent history(the last 20 years) with the exception of maybe Lav’s 1st team. Great staff, great group of kids, great season IMO.

I opened this thread assuming this was a thread about what movies to watch without any sporting events. You can never go wrong with The Godfather.

Close for me but I will also put Lavin's last year ahead of this one for enjoyment. We had watched so many of those guys play a ton of minutes over four years, has any five players combined (Greene, D-Lo, Pointer, Branch, Obepka) played more over their career? Maybe the Sealy, Werdann, Buchannon bunch, they also had a lot of four year starters.

or Casablanca or Blazing Saddles.
