No, not the entire script of the dialog of my as yet to be made porn classic but Mrs. 72 last night during the last 10 seconds of the UNC - NOVA classic ending of one of the most exciting NCAA Championship games ever! For those of us who have Nova alums in their family it was especially gratifying to see a great university like Villanova make the Big East proud and put it back on the basketball map in only year three of its reconfigured existence. Congratulations to redmen.com Nova fans like OTIS and the Maven and many of us striving to be like Nova. Our day will come sooner than expected with the recruiting pieces falling into place. For those worrying about our small backcourt the Tar Heels proved that talent trumps height as we saw with Berry and Paige. It even inspires hope for Malik Ellison at 6'6 after watching the ascent of Hield of Oklahoma after a mediocre freshman year where his shooting percentage was atrocious. It gives us hope that Sima will develop as did Ochefu at Villanova. The Villanova win leaves us all more excited for next season.
Well, all the pundits were wrong. The Big East is not dead. As much as the ACC and ESPN tried to kill it there is tremendous satisfaction that one of the great games in college basketball history was not broadcast on ESPN and the opponent was an ACC school. Ironically, 4 of the last 6 NCAA Championships have been won by former old Big East member schools and now including Villanova. How GREAT was that conference!! So much for not being able to compete with Big Power Five State schools (note to atheist Austour ).
Now old 72 can enjoy the basketball off season with his other favorite sports and teams. I am a big football fan - no, not American football but the beautiful game called soccer in the states. My favorite player Andrea Pirlo is playing here in NYC. I am enjoying Napoli play its best season in Serie A since Diego Maradona. My NY Rangers are heading for another Stanley Cup run and my NY Mets will hopefully be in the World Series.
To my redmen.com friends, until next season, “May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be ever at your back. May the sun shine warm upon your face and the rain fall softly on your fields. And until we meet again, May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.”
