Omar Calhoun

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/college/bondy-calhoun-longer-campus-huskies-struggle-classroom-article-1.1737499

I thought Bondy was savvy about New York. He lost me when he said lots of Pukon fans would be "training in from the north to Penn Station." :eek:hmy: I didn't realize the MTA had already built that link from Grand Central Station to Penn. ;)

But other than that minor misstatement, a pretty good article about the mess Calhoun left Pukon in.

Based on the article, it doesn't sound like he is going anywhere. More hopeful wishing/dreaming and speculation of this Board.
Reminds me of several years back when Kansas picked up a McD top rated PG and another good guard. Speculation on this board was rampant that Russell Robinson who had just completed his freshmen or sophomore season, would transfer out because these new guys were better and he would not get anytime. The thought (hope) was, since Norm Roberts was the point person recruiting him and had a good relationship with him, Robinson would come back home. Well Robinson didn't transfer and was the starting on a National Champion team.

I don't know if he will transfer or not (I don't really expect him to come out and say it while his team is still playing) nor if Jermaine Lawrence. While I would love to have both Calhoun and Lawrence (would have loved them if they had originally picked us) I think they actually need to come out and say they are transferring before we get too excited.

You mean Russell Robinson isn't coming here next year finally ?

You just ruined my day

Calhoun's team is still playing, so i certainly wouldn't expect him to admit he was transferring.

But things may change after their 77-63 loss tonight in which he gets 7 minutes of PT.

. . . and he realizes Boatwright is staying, Purvis is coming in as a starter and Cassell will be battling him for minutes plus there's 2 4star guards already committed for 2015.

Exactly

Russell Robinson confirmed the transfer rumors multiple times during his senior year, saying something along the lines of "you have no idea how close I came to transferring back home."

But he didn't nor did he ever come out before hand to say he was thinking about it prior to his Senior year.

As I said in my last paragraph.

And you still owe me a beer, losing our bet on how much PT he'd get. With interest, probably two beers at this point.

Exactly

Seven minutes is being generous. Calhoun's averaged fewer than 3 mpg over last five games: Nova (DNP), St. Joe's (1 min.), Louisville (10 mins.), Cincinnati (3 mins. ) & Memphis (DNP). Take out the Louisville game, in which he saw 10 mins. only because the Cards were way ahead for most of the game, and he's been averaging 1.9 mpg of late. That's a long, long way from last season's 31.2 mpg. The question is: do we really want him? His shooting this year has been pathetic (.305 from the field and .241 from 3-point range), and his freshman numbers weren't exactly lights-out (.402 and .321, respectively).

Another guard shooting 24% from 3. I think not.
