Obekpa's Cincy Replacement

http://www.zagsblog.com/2012/08/06/cincinnati-adds-7-footer-nyarsuk/

Seems like a step down for the bearcats for sure.

Based on what ? Until we see CO in action this kid blocks shots also, and brings 4 more inches. Certainly looks long. Not saying I'd want him over CO but it seems premature to say he's a step down.

I've never heard of the kid, and I have no life and following recruiting pretty closely :p

Its mid August practically and he's just picking a school. No other schools mentioned for him? That constitutes a step down from a Top 100 player in Obekpa to me. Phil Wait was 7-2. Meant nothing.

Says a lot about Cincy's academics that Wva rejected him. Huggins would take a tree stump if it had a good first step.

Sounds like an academic project for sure and so may never step on the court. But Huggy's review of his ability sounds decent. Says he even runs the court pretty well and has improved his offensive skills.

Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't trade him for CO in a million years but he looks l.......oooooooong and he's 7'1. Among Cincy's other big men he could be effective. In retrospect he is a step down from CO but not a bad pickup for August.

And Moose, even you shouldn't be following those NAIA prospects.

I don't even remember him signing with WVU in 2009 ;)

This guy won't average more than 2/3 this season, so if those results are better than Obekpa we have a problem.

Unless that 2/3 is shots blocked which is all a 7'1' guy who runs the floor has to do.

That was def my first thought.

He won't be doing that.

Neither do I and considering WVU had a good team it would have been big news.

Yeah, honestly I was not basing my opinion on anything more than what Moose said. It seems to have come out of nowhere, very late in the process.
