Obekpa Apologizes; Indefinite Removal

That's fine, now Lavin needs to be smart and start a big in his place Amar, or Joey D. Cant start his 4 guards and Dom we need a big to rebound. See first 4 mins of 2nd half vs Butler.

An elbow to the head and you don't start. Wonder what the punishment is for other infractions? I propose the following:
A knee to the groin- 20 push-ups
A clothes line-laps
A spinning back fist-you get signed by the UFC
Sounds like a move influenced by the lack of depth. Coach is trying to save the season by having Obekpa available. Would the penalty have been different at other schools, or with a deeper team?

Obekpa could show up at the next game in a pair of short shorts home made from Joe Lapchick's skin and he wouldn't get suspended. At this point merely failing as a coach is Lavin's best case scenario. He's in danger of becoming a punchline.

Doesn't the NCAA suspend a player for throwing a punch? Why is it even left to the team; or is that just the NBA?

Can someone provide me with the full list of players suspended by their coaches for cheap shot fouls this year, or is it too long to contain in a single post? Multiple posts would be fine. Or a link to a database cataloged by team, conference, nature of the foul, length of the suspension and length of the shorts. I know this would no doubt take exhaustive research to compile such an extensive compendium of infractions. Maybe we should hire somebody from Elias who is looking for a little side work. I'll throw in $3. Who's with me?

Here's another on eof those things I side with Lavin on. That Obekpa elbow was so out of the Michael Graham Georgetown playbook, that it angered even our own most loyal fans. Lavin;s response is basically, if you want to play like a street thug, you won't be doing that on this team. Good for Lavin. (The preceding statement is not an endorsement of our record, nor of Lavin's success or lack thereof this season)

I agree,I was very critical of the way Lavin handled it post game on Wednesday. I like how he handled it today when all is said and done

Any update on his injury?

The Butler player is fine. He returned to the game and shoved our little kids around with ease. Shows the kid can take a moving elbow to the head! I for one, think there should be more physical contact allowed. After all, this is America. Land where we send 10 year olds out on a football field dressed in full Battle Star Galactica regalia to get their brains scrambled and who, by the age of 17, feel so fearless from multiple concussions, that they go out and gang rape high school sophomores for fun.

I am sure some of the younger fans here who follow mixed martial arts contests on Fox feel cheated that Chris Obekpa got only 8 seconds of game time before injuring his ankle from being assaulted by the foot of a Creighton player. No doubt a dirty play that should have warranted at least a technical on Lavin. Since Chris has become vilified for his defensive elbow move, some of the blood thirsty here may enjoy a brief description of one of America's fastest growing spectator sports:

The techniques utilized in mixed martial arts competition generally fall into two categories: striking techniques (such as kicks, knees, punches and elbows) and grappling techniques (such as clinch holds, pinning holds, submission holds, sweeps, takedowns and throws).

@NYPost_Brazille: On conference call Steve Lavin says Chris Obekpa will practice today, but still not sure about his status against DePaul. #sjubb

as in he hurt his ankle because he was put into a game to play five seconds when we were up 20?

I get the feeling SL has a nice fallback strategy of faking injuries to avoid using the word suspension.

Sheed's sickness/knee and now Chris' ankle.

If you saw the game you saw him roll his ankle on the missed foul shot rebound.

I've rolled my ankle like that before. 4 day rest he should be good to go IMO. Plus he's used to playing with this injury

If you are healthy now, and are 6-8 or above, do you think you can give us a few minutes at center?

He didn't appear to turn it badly, just come down wrong on it. IT was God's way of punishing him for the elbow.
