Great NY Post article on the "rebirth" of NYC high school basketball
Some St John's future targets are highlighted in the article
It's a great time to recruit the NYC area - the area is fertile with big name talent
Hope Mullin's focus and desire to recruit locally pays dividends in the next few classes
Local recruiting success could help put us back into the national picture once again
WE ARE................ ST JOHN'S!!

Mullins very first call was to Bamba. We can all now clearly understand why nothing more ever came of that.
We are very involved with Cockburn, Brown and Achiuwa and never had a chance with Anthony. On paper staff has done a great job in this respect. Not their fault if any of these kids fail to commit to us and I applaud the staff for their effort. They also pulled out all stops with Alkins.
Their effort has been nothing less than 100%.

Surprised not a small mention of Ponds or Sid Wilson be being Top 100's and staying local for college.

It's a great time for our resurgence and to be recruiting NYC and NJ. Plenty of talent. We don't need to land em all, but grab our share. Love having Ponds and Wilson here and no doint we will land more local kids as we improve our rep. Doesn't hurt that the Big East is looking extremely strong, and getting stronger all the time.

I could not agree more - I've always felt that way - we don't need them all nor is that realistic - but we can and are " getting our share" - and our program is on a splendid trajectory!
I doubt anyone could disagree on how far and how soon Chris Mullin & Company have brought us!
And of course winning recruiting battles and winning games will breed more of the same!
No reason we cannot be a top 20 team, NCAA bound in the near future!!!
Realistic goals...and if Villanova and Gonzales can make the Final Four SO CAN WE!!!
Thanks to you, MR, RMN and the posters above
:) :cheer:
