I am not sure how the New York Post can predict that St. John’s loses to an opponent whose identity is not yet know.

As MarkRedman says “Let the Games begin !!”

Totally understandable skepticism on your part. But's it's now or never for this group and I choose to believe it's now. No question talent is there; let's hope staff can make it work.

I am looking forward to the game and the season. Hoping that the lackadaisical effort from the other night was just an isolated display of immaturity. Hopefully, the team starts to realize that they have the talent to play and beat anyone. The potential for a special season is all right there. Seize the day!

Very excited to see the 2018-19 Johnnies in action
Should be an exciting and successful season
Let the games begin!!

It's so important to make the tourney...once you get in it's a crap shoot. Just get your ticket to the raffle and wacky things happen. I think if we make it we have a good chance of winning the 1st round game if only because of the law of averages. We lost to Cuse for so long until we finally broke through and same with Nova. We haven't won an NCAA game in 20 years practically...we are due for that too. That's tough to do especially in a single-elimination tourney. One of these tournaments our opponent is due to crap the bed against us or we are due to go off on all cylinders.

Yeah but it always seems we get nightmare matchups every time like Gonzaga when we hit the tourney. Let’s just make it and see what happens. Agree this year it’s time.

Predictions in November!?!?
I thought we were knuckleheads but the post obviously has a lot of print space going to waste.
I expect any easy but quiet win in Jamaica tonight with many fans avoiding the heavy rain. A good performance will make up for a dreary day.

Most of those who are cynical (including Zach) of this team’s prospects are so because of the: (1) lingering taste of too many years of disappointment; and (2) a perception that this coaching staff has underachieved, on multiple levels). (To a lesser extent, there is some skepticism attributable to the unproven frontcourt, but I think it’s a distant third to the other two reasons.)

Just look at this collection of talent, including the BE pre-season player of the year; a member of last year’s all-SEC 2nd team; transfers from other top programs (e.g, MSU, Arizona, South Carolina) who were top 100 high school recruits; a junior college all-American; a mid-major conference’s newcomer of the year. If one were to replace the SJU logo with that of a school with a proven staff and history of winning I believe that today’s cynics would instead be predicting a likely deep run in the NCAA tournament. It all comes down to coaching (including instilling discipline and inspiring energetic play) and perception — the forner of which can change the latter.

In my 35+ years of being a diehard fan, I have rarely been this optimistic. Other than at the perennial blue-bloods, this really is as good as one could hope as far as student-athletes (personnel).

Have us fifth in BE regular season behind Nova, PC, Marquette & Butler. Still a lot of unbelievers out there. Let's start the conversion process tonight!
Diehard fan here. Cheer the guys on every game. I'm not a believer. My glasses are no longer rose colored. Time to win is now.
Lol you’re glasses were never rose colored. Regardless, let’s get this win tonight !

Couldn't agree more Baldi, we need to prove it on the court and i do believe we have enough talent barring any major injuries to win 20 + games , this team is legitimately loaded, so for everyone who says Mullin hasn't recruited is totally unfair but now he needs to prove he can coach with a stacked roster.
