SJU basketball has placed 60 players in the NBA thru out its historic history. I was looking at some stats regarding which schools placed the most players in the NBA, and I have to tell you that we are in there with some elite programs. I did not look at every program, but I believe that we have to be in the top ten if not higher.

I only come up with 49 names (SJU guys who played at least 1 game in the NBA), with Mo expected to make it 50. Who am I missing? BTW, according to my records, UCLA currently leads with 79 players all time, with UNC and Kentucky a close 2nd and 3rd at 76 and 75 respectively. If all of those last two schools 2012 draft picks make the league, they'll both pass UCLA next season, unless a couple of free agent Bruins make their League debuts.

Not sure you guys have any of these (haven't done enuf research yet) - any guys who transferred out of Saint Johns to other schools, who went on to make the NBA or ABA?

I'm not sure if you all would count those guys or not. Personally, I do - if they played a full season for your school, they should count on your total. For my Bruins that adds three (to a total of 82) - Cup of coffee post Brett Vroman, former Knick and Net Corey Gaines, and 12 year journeyman center Greg Foster - and gives them two additional potential free agents from this class - Drew Gordon of New Mexico and Chace Stanback of UNLV.

Re Foster - how does a 6'11 center who NEVER averaged as many as 4 boards, only ONCE averaged more that 5 points, and manged to block 1 shot EVERY THIRD GAME HE PLAYED stay in the league for TWELVE seasons???

Roshown McLeod transferred out and then to Duke. I'm sure there are more.
