Nova and other Big East chances in the Dance...

Despite the harsh loss today, it shouldn't be overlooked that Nova is a strong looking team. They have good inside/outside play, depth, and play smart. Looking at the box score, you can tell that the elements of our defense that work even in lieu of size/depth issues don't work on Nova. They hardly turn the ball over, don't get the ball picked much, etc.

Eyes will be on the league in the NCAA tourney...understandably, some will doubt that this is the 2nd best conference based on stats-stuff.

I think Nova should do better than a 2nd round this year, and could be a final four contender.

Rest of the conference teams going into the field? Good enough to avoid say, all teams losing first round, but can the league present a 2nd team to make a real run?

If Nova does not make the final four Jay Wright should be fired. The BE rep is riding on his shoulders.

just a tad extreme perhaps. :)

My cousin went to U of A and is big PAC 12 fan. He does not think Nova deserves their ranking or seed. He speaks for most of the country. Wright has to prove them wrong this year.

I think Wright is the coolest coach around. He deserves a life time contract and is a jewel for this conference.

I watch a lot of college basketball (maybe too much). Arizona has an excellent team but I think Nova ranks right with them. They are one of the better teams in the country and expect them to get to at least the Elite Eight. I also think Butler will make the Sweet Sixteen. Georgetown, Providence, Xavier , Georgetown and St.John's can all win their first round game but would be surprised if more than one gets to the second weekend.

I agree that Nova is one of the top teams in the country but how can you make the statement that basically only three of the six Big East teams will advance past the first round without even knowing who they are playing? The tournament is all about match ups. Even for Nova, a lot depends on who the two, three and four seeds in their region and how they match up against those teams.

I said they all can win their first game. Xavier and St. John's are likely to be 9/10 seeds. I don't think either is good enough to upset a top 10 team. Georgetown and Providence will have to play at least a top 20 team, I would be surprised if more than one of them can do it. That is my rationale for only one of them winning in the second round. I think Butler will beat a top 20 team and make the sweet 16. If they got a favorable matchup maybe they make the Elite Eight. Villanova is good enough to make the Elite Eight and a shot at the Final Four.
