Just curious, but I sense a definite Long Island bent to this site, so was wondering if anyone else on here did their undergraduate SJU work in Staten Island?

I graduated and applied to the downtown BKLYN campus, and got a letter it was closing. They offered a visit to this small but bucolic campus at the top of Grimes Hill in Staten Island which I detested until I visited. I fell in love with the school, met my wife there, we both did post grad work at the Queens campus and the rest is history.

The squad used to go there for a practice and a meet and greet. Good stuff.

I went to grad school at the ND campus and was grad assistant. Had to take classes also at Jamaica. My wife got her undergraduate degree from ND campus. It was a very attractive with some fascinating old buildings. In the early days the library was the new building. The small campus made for knowing a lot of folks but the students never really got into the team, in my opinion. I also recruited for my firm there and the campus had really changed with some new buildings, but very qualified student candidates.

Is it possible that two guys on here with Brooklyn in their Usernames are the only two with any connection to the Staten Island campus., called initially Notre Dame College of St. John's University, I think the whole NDC has long ago been dropped.

Funny thing is that St. John's from its inception was a Brooklyn based school, back before Brooklyn became a Borough of NYC, and instead was its own city. And the Staten Island campus is closer to St. John's Brooklyn than the Queens campus, at least from the downtown Brooklyn campus.

The controversy about the library when the first class got there, was that it took a while and we only got to use it our last two years, and it was modern and did not fit in at all with the older more charming buildings. That has now changed and architecturally it is a bit of a hodgepodge with the older buildings looking much nicer.
